Flash and JSP

I've read the article about getting info out of a .swf to a JSP, but what about the other way around, surely using javascript can't be the only way!?!

Is it not possible to have your JSP output text/plain and just read it like an external script file?

I have actually tried this, but it didn't work, the thing is I can't understand why it wouldn't.

Do you have any suggestions?
