Hey, I've seen the 3d spherical emblem with a blu'ish fill and a metallic border on a few sites.. I saw one that looked cheap and one that looked real sharp.
They both came from somewhere on these forums.
Anyone have a tutorial on how to do them?
Preferablly in 3ds max or Maya, thanks..

I think he is speaking of your logo. That can be done with imported .ai files and extrude them. No?
I wonder if yours was the cheap one or the sharp one :P :run:

the best way to do it is import an .ai file a.k.a vector file. Basically design your logo in Illustrator or Firework or Freehand. Be sure to combine paths when feasable and do not include strokes. Then import the .ai file (note: save it as a .ai 7 file, even if ouhave the latest illustrator). Once in max you will need to scale it up because it will be tiny. But beware do not use the regular uniform scale tool. Go into the Spline sub-object then scale your logo up 1500 (uniform). Also you may have to check and see that all the vertices are welded together (meaning touching) to do this zoom in close and examine all points as you find some that are not closed weld them together using the weld tool. Use the help files also they give you good stuff in there.
once all that is checked you can extrude your logo or bevel however you wish to add to its depth

Hey dudeman, if you dont have illustrator, you can export paths from photoshop as eps or ai. And follow what ddd said before.
:)
btw:: if mines the one you like which is the one that looks cheap?
