Looks like iTunes for Windows will popup around Thursday of next week. This will provide direct competition with MusicMatch and the new Napster which is slated to arrive Oct 29th in terms of the pay-per-song music serivices etc.

I've tried MusicMatch's deal and its nice... in a way, but it can't really compete with iTunes on the Mac. Too many little things just makes it unusable in comparison. Apple getting iTunes out to Windows users will greatly increase its presence and it will undoubtedly take off - especially getting it out of the door before the beloved napster.

Oooh, thats good news :)

I've just got my 20GB 3rd gen Ipod, so it'll be welcome.

I've spent the last couple of days ripping all my cds to mp3s...

The interface is hella slow, especially resizing. On top of all that it doesnt maximize :scream: - its like they went to extra effort to make sure it doesnt.

:h:

I'm going to download it and see if it's worth keeping. I really don't like KaZaA anymore, and I'm looking for a better way to get my music. So what if it's 99 cents a song? It's still cheaper than most CDs :sigh:

Plus you only pay for the songs you like/want! :thumb:

Yeah but selection is a problem.

Ive checked out most of the pay per song sites and the selection was friggin terrible.

I like alot of obscure and oldschool music as well as whats hot for the month. Most services dont offer close to the kind of music I might want to buy.

I have the same problem Fester...

ITunes claim to have over 400,000 songs so we will have to wait and see I guess...

from what I've seen in about 8 min of browsing, there's a pretty good selection. My biggest complaint so far is this "Partial Album" crap. With these you don't have the option to get the whole thing for 9.99, instead you have to spend $20 to download each individual track if you want the whole album. Oh well, it's pretty new. They do have Ooooold school Del though, so that makes up for a little.

this is pretty nice, but i'm NOT impressed w/ the song selection. i picked a random band that i like (not unknown, actually famous...) and there was NOTHING...
(Led Zepplin btw)

Some artists are still reluctant about having their tracks up for grabs on the Apple Music store. Not only that... but I think Apple wants artists that agree to sell individual tracks as well as whole albums.

I'm still not sure about the store, but I am now officially a fan of the player.

Not on my system?? it does lag but not too slow.

Been a music match fan for a long time, always used itunes when working with macs though, now its a hard decision on which to use on my PC.

Hmmm one thing i like that Musicmatch has, is that when importing a folder of music, it subdivided the artist into sections, so you could just import a artist in your playlist by right clicking and selected import songs into playlist, instead of having all the music in one big list.

iTunes is pretty good on my system. It doesn't run slow at all ... I just have NO idea how to stop the music - I can only pause it.

Fester and others were right, the selection is pretty terrible. No Sevendust or Metallica at all. I was upsetted :(
