hey guys, i dunno if this is the right forum for this, if it isn't, sorry.

heres the problem.... i got all of these small video clips (AVI), and i put them all on the timeline and i did everything, and when i render it, and export the video, and try to preview it outside the program, all i hear is the music, and i can't see anything, it is just black, but when i view it inside the program it works fine.

thanks peepole!

Make sure your video encoding codec is set up right to export the video. I will attach some screen shots in a min... =)

Ok, go into the Video Settings for your project...

http://home.earthlink.net/~niann/1.jpg

Make sure the settings there match the settings for the clips you used. Framerate, dimensions, pixel ratio, etc. The color option and data rate options are grayed out for me because the codec I am using sets those up on its own. If you are using a codec that does, you will need to make sure it is configured properly. (ie if you are using divx make sure it is set up a single pass constant bitrate, unless you are very familer with the codec and feel comfortable doing multi pass VBR encoding, if you need help setting up your codec, let me know I can try and help.)

Check on your timeline that the little eyes are both there on the far left side, if they are missing click the box and they should show up. Also be aware that whatever is on video 2 will show up over video 1a and video 1b just like a photoshop layer.

You can do a quick check by using the settings viewer its in the same menu as the project settings. Make sure things there look ok. I can't tell you what exact values should be there, it varies from project to project.

Go to export timeline...

http://home.earthlink.net/~niann/5.jpg

Choose export move, name it, and then click on the little settings button...

Make sure the export video and audio check boxes are checked and the Range is set for the entire movie.

That should do it... :thumb: Let me know how it works for you. :)

ohh man... hey u explained it great man, but i think i am retarted or something, here let me tell you what i am doing.

i got a whole bunch of small clips from GTA Vice City with this program called FRAPS, all you do is when u play, u click F3 or whatver, and it puts it in the folder. so i dunno all the encoding and compressing for them. thanks man!

Could you email me a small clip or two, and I will take a look and see if I can get them to render? (I will PM you my email addy) And do you know what codec you are using when you try to render the final movie?

Cheers!

Codec = Compresser/Decompresser It is how the computer translates the video data. For example .mp3 is an audio codec, it tells the software how to compress and decompress the audio stream.

Anyway... in the Project settings there is a drop down box that lets you select what codec you want to use. The box is Labeled "compressor" For example the codec I am using for the project I took screenshots of is Huffyuv (v2.1.1) I would suggest not using the cinapack by radius that comes with Premiere, that one is real bad. If you are short in the codec department divx ( http://www.divx.com ) makes a pretty good one, if you decide to use divx I can help you set it up. :)

divx should do it, it adds it's codec's to windows media and winamp 2 so it is quiet good.

fraps is a great program... :)
