Hey Guys

My friend has been designing this layout for awhile now as i have seen him fiddling with it on many occasions in school and at home. I was just wondering what you guys though of it. I swear it looks like an interface i have seen somewhere else around the web but i've seen him make it 100% from creting the black & white templates in photosho, down to the grunge brushes and gradient fills.

Does anyone else recognise it from somewhere i just dont know what it is that familiar.
(may just be me)

I think it's pretty cool and will look nice when it's finished.

Here's the attachment for j00 :).

yeah dude!!! blatant rip!!! I even matched up the grunge. It is an exact replica. You say you saw him creating it? Or cutting it out? That is just too much the same. He/She had to have the exact same brushes with the exact same setting.......my money is on it is a rip

there are subtle changes but you can tell they were applied to the image that was cut out. Not from scratch

VisualAid

s*** man

it is in his book down from the shape to the final product. The brushes are on the cd and event those settings are classed as a brush (the gradient fill is a tool thingy) It' totally shocking that it's in this book could it be a rip? in a book?!?!?

urbanjackal
October 7th, 2003, 06:42 AM
what is the book called.... ?

VisualAid
October 7th, 2003, 06:52 AM
Website Interfaces Remapped v1.2

it's got the cd and everything, it's totally weird this.

eilsoe
October 7th, 2003, 07:10 AM
oki.. then the site we saw above is simply a site made from a book... :sigh:

shame for the owners of THAT site... wankers...

VisualAid
October 7th, 2003, 11:43 AM
Mmmm the site claim "it's original" maybe the book copied the site is that legal??!

my friend still says he's gonna use it because he says

" the design looks cool and when i'm finished with it wont look anything like the original, LCD panels, Cool Wires, Smoke " the lot

thats a quote!!! :D

If your friend did use the interface "rip" what will that site "http://2methods.com/firstmethod/" do to your friend then ?

:h:

eilsoe
October 7th, 2003, 12:35 PM
absolutely nothing, he followed a turotial, they can't bug him... (apparantly), on the other hand, THEY suck for actually using that design for their site...

DDD
October 7th, 2003, 01:03 PM
what is weird that if 4 of us took the same tutorial they would be similar but not the same. If you look at these 2 sites some of the grunge brushes are EXACTLY the same from positioning to stroke. That is **** near amazing. Unless both of these guys used the finished product off of the cd. There is no way 2 people who do not know each other can take a tut and come out with the exact same brush stroke, positioning, size and everything. I must go look for this book. That guys site is good I cannot believe he ripped it from a book.

dude it is a rip.......either both of them ripped it from this book or one of them is an imposter. hahhahah......It is not possible to recreate someting that exact from 2 diff people taking the same tutorial but dont know each other.

He's the type of guy who gives decompilers a bad name.

maybe you should "accidentally" delete a few files... see if he can "recreate" them while you watch... just so you can learn his l33t skills...

;)

He also said it wasn't ripped. So don't delete them, just "move" them so he doesn't know where they are. Then when he gets mad, tell him you'll give them up, if he can repeat any of the tasks needed to create this design, only with a diff texture, or without something...

subtle is always better. Then, if subtle doesn't sink in, use a 25 lb. hammer to the temple (either yours or his works)...

hi
i am firstmethod
u have nice talk around here
site visual concept was created by me in a 1 week , it was made only with a use of imagination. no books , tutorials or something.
i say it and i mean it.
shame on that foolish lama who rotate my interface on 180 d. and paste the dirty texture with multiply above. its sux.

hope i fully answer the thread.

btw , if some book ripped my ideas too for their content - let me see the screens or something from it about it. let me dance with them a little.

AAAAAAhhhahaHAHAHAhhaa..... Someone went and got the man himself. I knew it was a rip. What was being proposed was impossible a tut that yielded the exact same results....grunge at that. Well you got some free publicity because I had never heard of your site b4. Hopefully this horse's arse does not release this site rip. ALso dont hold your breath waiting for the book there is not one! BTW nice site man. Your intro is that AE (after effects)?

If your friend ever comes to this board tell a mod his name so he can be banned ASAP.

I hope your friend doesn't think he will get away with still using that layout. I would have his *** sued so fast.

Hehe, it feels so good knowing that somebody who 'created' something didn't actually create it but just ripped it. So many possibilities of confronting him/her ! :bad:

That is just REALLY funny (/sad/pathetic/lame) I hope your friend is reading to see all this negative energy being pushed his way, because he should know that it just IS NOT cool to rip people off like that. You can be inspired by something, or say "hey! I like the look" and thats all fine and good, but to decompile someone elses work, rotate it, and a few things here and there... that is just uncalled for and morally wrong. If he actually plans on doing this for a living he will find out VERY soon that he can't get away with that, besides.. originality is key. (well, I'm assuming anyway, I just started college, so I'm not really in any business)
