Hi, I stumbled upon this website and it's been really helpful to me thus far.

Now, on to my problem...

I'm trying to make a button that, instead of going straight to red (or whatever color) when the mouse goes over it, I would like it to fade to red in say 15 frames or so. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

create the animation in a movie clip and put the mc in the rollOver state of the button

Er....I tried doing that but it gives me an error and says:

"Cannot create a symbol within itself"

I'm confused :(

Please try this

1. Draw whatever shape you want your button to be
2. Selct the shape and convert into symbol > choose button.
3. Insert keyframes for all stages of the button (F6)
4. Go to the 'over' state of your button
5. Select the shap again and convert into symbol (this time choose movie clip)
6. Edit the movie clip
7. Select frame 1 - insert keyframe on frame 15
8. crete motion tween
9. go to frame 15 and choose FX (Windows>panels>effects)
10. choose tint
11. choose the color you want

It should work!:link:
