I'm starting to get really peeved with how the eyedropper tool has been evolving in Flash CS5.

The eyedropper originally behaved more like Photoshop's eyedropper tool in that you could select colors outside of the program. You'd simply click the mouse button on the artboard, drag outside of Flash to a web browser window, and pick up a color from anything in the web browser.

I can't seem to figure out how to do this anymore when it comes to manipulating gradients in CS5. I double click one of the color boxes on the gradient line, the cursor becomes an eyedropper, but as soon as I click it immediately selects that color. Even more frustrating is I can no longer pick colors outside of the Flash window.

Does anyone know how to get around this super annoying problem? My workflow is becoming more and more encumbered thanks to Adobe breaking how the eyedropper tool behaves! >:[

Oh, Photoshop CS5 doesn't allow you to pick colors from outside the program either... if this makes you feel better.:)

Actually in Photoshop CS5 you can. When the eye dropper tool is active, click anywhere on the artboard, and then drag it outside of the program with the mouse button still held down. Once you have the color you want under your cursor, release the mouse button and you will now have that color selected.

It's just FRUSTRATING since Flash used to be able to do this and now it's broken in CS5. If anyone knows how to do this in Flash CS5 please help :[
