Hey-
I looked through the sticky for this help, but couldnt find it.
I looked on google for a while - found some stuff for lightwave...
I'm making a soda can in cinema 4d, ive got it all lathed out, and perfect...
now i want to apply this custom texture i made...but when i create the material, and apply it - the texture on the can is HUGE, and it didnt really do the mapping i wanted...
now im using the demo of cinema 4d, but so far i havent had any limitations beyond saving, and exporting.
if you could help personally, or direct me to a tutorial on cylindrical texture mapping, i would appreciate it.
i got the lathed out nurb spline from the actual image im using, and the object is in the same proportions as the texture.
any help is appreciated!

When you apply the texture to your object, you'll notice that it will now appear next to your object in the object window.
Double click on the texture next to your object and under the "Projection" drop down menu, select cylindrical. Click OK.
Next select the Texture Tool on the left side tool bar, this tool will allow you to rescale or move your material around.
I hope that helps.

If I have, say, a cube, and I apply a metal material to it. Then I select only one of the side faces. how do I apply a material to only that face? It just smacks the material on the entire cube, so I have two materials on it. :-\
so: Only apply a material to the selected faces of an object. how?

When you apply the material on it and the material appears on next to your object, double click on it and there are options on how you want it to be applied.
You'll also need to use the texture tool to line it up to the area you want as well.

I'm running version 8, I don't get anything when I dbl+click.
I get the features spherical, cubic stuff below yes, but I only want to apply it to ONE face, the one I have selected...

hmm....I don't use version 8, I have version 7. I'll look at it later and see where it is on version 8.

wouldnt you use Texture Mapping on the cube to have one face textured? I don't know Cinema much but might be helpful.

eilsoe, select the face then from the top menu Select>Set Selection. A triangle looking tag will appear next to your object in the object manager. Select it, then in the Attributes Manager, click the "Basic" button. This way you can name the selection. Give it a name, like matA.
Next, apply a material to your object. Select the materials tag in the object manager, from the Attributes manager, select the "Tag" button. In the field "Selection", enter the name you gave your selection, matA. Now that material is applied only to that polygon selection.
