I work for a small business here in London Ontario Canada. We employ about 9 people and 3 of us are designers.

We are going through the motions of buying all legit software for all machines. This includes all design software (macromedia, adobe, 3-d studio) as well as all OS and Office applications.

My question is this - do these programs come with more than once license or do "I" have to purchase a seperate license for all computers that will have all the software. I mean - with studio MX 2004 that we just purchased (only 1 copy to see if it's worth the upgrade) will I have to buy 3 versions of Studio MX 2004 if I plan on installing them on all of our design machines? and if so are there some kind of discounts? I would write macromedia myself and ask but I assume some of you will know that work in bigger business'.

Thanks in advance guys/girls! :)

i know that you have to buy licenses to each machine, and i knwo they are cheaper then the actual program

most softwares have value licensing basically the more seats the cheaper and yes it is cheaper than buying multiple copies...I know MM only allows one copy on a network at a time...It will boot you off if you try more than one. 3d studio max setup is tricky but you have to buy seats also and if you plan to do network rendering and a bunch of stuff.

Sureshot... you are referring to buying a software with volume licences. The price depends on how many workstations you have. In my case, macromedia quoted me for 4 volume licences for Macromedia Studio MX 2004 for approx. $999.

My animation class in high school had Flash 5, my teacher wanted to install it on all the computers but first she had to buy what was called something like a Teachers License which permitted her to install the program on up to 30 indivual computers.

So you only have to get 1 program, but I believe you have to order a license for how many computers you are able to install it on.

You only need one cd to install Flash or any studio or adobe product..

But you'll need an individual license for every computer that you have... Most licensing packages are cheaper the higher amount of licenses you get.. (per license basis)...

Thanks a lot guys - that's of great help :)

So now that i have purchased a copy of the software you think I can call them up and say "ok, now we are very happy with your new product, I would like to go about getting 2 additional licences...." - Does that sound right?

Also - would that hold true for the Microsoft software like Windows and Office? Thanks again guys!
