Hey guys. I'm going to start learning flash. I got a really really nice Flash 5 book. Im getting Flash MX today. Should I learn flash 5 first since I do have a book. Or should I just try and learn MX which I probly wont be getting a book for cuz of the price? =)

MX really changed event handling making it a little more straight forward and much easier in terms of making simple effective examples. The transition from 5 to MX is a pretty hefty one because of this, changing the whole way you handle things. Plus MX introduced the new collapable interface and the properties bar which is a little more easy to work with compared to all the panels in 5. MX 2004 isnt much different from MX. You got some extra features in the authoring environment and theyve added a Actionscript 2.0 which is nothing more than Actionscript 1.0 (the same actionscript in MX) with programmer friendly syntax. You should Pretty much stick to MX methinks.
