Dot effect in Photoshop

Hey peeps,
I'm wanting to creatye this effect in photoshop, doe's anyone know how i could achive it, please.

Um, to start off with you would want to use fills. Look in the sticky thread for some good tutorial sites. Also, there should be a tutorial on this subject fairly soon on kirupa.com.

you can do it very quickly in FW....but I am guessing blur your picture (gausion) then make that pattern with the circles....make a mask layer then fill it with the pattern....this is a wild guess as I am walking out the door....Post if you need more

i already tryed that but it didn't give me the desired effect, i want it to be as close to the above image as possible. but thanx for the help

i know exactly how they did that...i followed a tutorial on it once...

first you need to make a pattern that is in the dot shape...so open a new square photoshop file 15x15 pixels or 12x12 are good. then fill it with black...create a layer from the background...then get out your eraser tool and erase a circle right in the middle of it...the click edit-->define pattern.

then open up the pic you want to use...and go to filters-->pixelate-->mosaic and set the cell size to 15 or 12 accordingly.

then create a new layer and fill it with your pattern...boom!

well that was close to what I said.....I was rushing out of the door.....Left out a step....Is it mosaic or just a blur?? You may have to do some kind of layer blend my guess is multiply but play with them....should not be too difficult
