This is the week to appreciate your rights to read books that are contraversial, according the American Library Association. Read all about it..

http://www.ala.org/Content/NavigationMenu/Our_Association/Offices/Intellectual_Freedom3/Banned_Books_Week/Banned_Books_Week.htm

There is even a list of the last decades 100 most contraversial books here:

http://www.ala.org/Content/NavigationMenu/Our_Association/Offices/Intellectual_Freedom3/Banned_Books_Week/Related_Links7/Top_100_Challenged_Books_1990-1999.htm

Some of the obvious ones would be Brave New World, and Catcher in the Rye, (1984 was not on the list), but Where's Waldo?? And a Light in the Attic by Shel Silverstein is contraversial??

What do you guys think about this list?? Is it incomplete, or over the line??

Yeah, I love Waldo. Anyway, must me something about the region where Waldo is "hiding". Maybe in a strip tease bar? Naughty Waldo! :P

I must say, Of Mice And Men was probably the best book I ever read. Seems most of these "frequently challenged books" are some of the best ever written... That's including Waldo!

As for Where is Waldo...he probably got banned after noone could find the little rascal!! Instead of admitting defeat, they probably just hung him and burned his books

I would guess that most of the people who actually put in official complaints are either basing their complaints on religious issues(don't even get me started) or parents who think the books contain issues which aren't suitable for the age group their being marketed to, which would make for a pretty stupid list. note the amount of entries relating to sex and gay and lesbian issues.

I wish people weren't so closed-minded, and I wish kids would read more books.
