I am using Photoshop 7.0, but I am having trouble finding out how to display the coordinates of the cursor. When you make a selection using the rectangle tool, it should display the dimensions of it. The starting as well as ending points of it. But I cannot find out how to turn this on, any ideas?

But this does not show it at the bottom of the screen like it used to do and as it did in PSP.

Paint Shop Pro is not Photoshop.

you can always move the info palette down to the bottom of your screen ;)

I used psp as an example of what I was talking about. I always thought you could do this in Photoshop, but I guess I am wrong. I just wanted to know if it an be done, and dragging the info panel down isn't efficient hehe.

I use psp to make most of my pictures, then I use Photoshop just to combine the entire image together and make minor corrections. Photoshop is good, but it still needs some improvements.

So nobody knows how to accomplish this? Maybe it just cant be done...

PSP rules as 3d-iva it has some tricks photoshop doesnt have - one that I find is a stupid detail but great nevertheless is PSP's possibility to zoom in with left click and zoom out with right (with the zoom lens) - in PS doesn't work like that.

But as I said, you have to look at your docked window called 'info' to see how big the square you selected is - it's in Window>Info

theres one thing I remember PSP having that I wish PS did (and correct me if Im wrong and PS does have this) is the multi-picker average color eye dropper thingy - where you can select a range and get the average color of that range. PS has a 3x3 and 5x5 average, but 3x3 or 5x5 is no range and its not exactly very precise

yup correct sen....plus as I have always said the dotted line tool was such a no brainer to me I wonder why FW and PS never had it.....well FW has it now thank God...

Yea, I like psp a lot. Dont forget about the right-click for the eyedropper tool to select the background and then the usual leftclick for the foreground, that comes in handy.

Its kinda pathetic that one would even think about talking about something that saves about 1-2 seconds of work, but really, its what defines one programs ability over the other.

Ive always been told Photoshop is better, but I still have both on my computer.

I think when it comes down to it, PS has the edge over PSP for other reasons, but Adobe could learn alot from PSP. Photoshop certainly doesnt have everything.

Yeah, I am using 8. I would say it isn't worth the price to 'pay' to update it. But it still has some nice features. Maybe Adobe will rethink their next version of Photoshop and have a lot of these features that psp has, as well as its other competitors.
