Hello. I made a game using a very slow and old PC, and as expected... it runs slow when i play it. I played it on a decent PC and it runs perfect. Then I played it on my brand new iMac and its in SLOW motion. No other game that I have played on the internet with my iMac is in slow motion.
I made it using actionscript 2.
I am using setInterval to move my movieclips.
I am using flash MX...
Any body know why my game is running slow on one computer and fast on another?
(Didn't think I needed to post my code for this. Correct me if I'm wrong.)
thanks.

well generally flash runs slower on a mac. But there could be things in your code that are slowing it down. how many times are you using setInterval? does each object have its own setInterval function or do you use one that moves everything? also how many objects are on the screen? If you are using MovieClips and you have a ton of them on screen this will also slow you down.

Thanks for your reply.

I am using three setIntervals.
does each object have its own setInterval function or do you use one that moves everything?
I made sure to use one to move all my objects.
also how many objects are on the screen?
I'd say at most about 10. They fall and as they move off the stage they are removed.
Maybe I should just experiment and make a very simple game that would have no problems on ANY computer and see how it runs on a mac vs PC.

hmm... That doesn't seem like it should be causing lag... Unless when you remove the objects from the screen they are staying in memory. Its hard to tell without seeing the code though.

i made a simple game and it is still slow on the mac... I've also been doing some research and think it might be the fact that I'm using flash MX to make my games. Can anybody verify this? If I buy CS5 do you think it will solve this problem? (I guess i should contact adobe)

I don't think cs5 will make a big difference at this point, But in a few months when flash player 10.1 is officially released there will be a huge improvement in speed.

I'm on a mac using CS3, and a particular .fla I was working on ran horribly slow when testing the movie in Flash CS3. I gave up on the project and it wasn't until a couple days ago that I opened up the swf in the stand-alone flash player and like magic, the frame rate was very steady and everything was quite fluid. I double-checked the .fla and debugging was NOT permitted, and trace statements were being omitted, so no idea what the problem is.
Anyhow, as far as testing swfs in browsers, in the past I've generally found swfs on a mac seem to run noticeably faster in firefox compared to safari, but performance in safari has improved a bit.
Just posting my own experiences. Not sure what yr problem is :)

Why do we need a pc cleaner? nowadays, people all talking about pc cleaners, I don't why we need one in our computer, several days ago my friend recommend me a software tuneup360, now I'm waiting for the result.
