Was today, and I have photos and a movie. :)

For anyone that hasn't read a thread containing a description yet, World Day is basically a day where everyone does weird and stupid things to raise money for charity.

So without further ado... I present the first public display of Barbie vs. Action Man Deathsliding.

Dan and Simon setting up the participants...

Sending them down the slide...

Some early casualties...

Simon playing with some dolls...

And a 4MB .mov file of one of the thrilling races. :)

if we had a definition of spam pertaining to real life (you know, the one that happens when you get off that seat, if you do), this would definitely be a good example of it.

I used to take my teenage mutant ninja turtles action figures and create massive ziplines that they could rescue stuff with...

and asphalt, same smile, same pose as the footer lol, do you ever move!? :P hehe

;) Or go teddy bear racing, you can't forget that quality experience. :)

And yeah, I've just noticed that the first pic pose is rather similar to the footer... :) I'm sure I've got some more somewhere though. And none of me! Whoo hoo! :beam:

The funniest part was probably the day before, when Matt and Simon went into Woolworths and bought lots of sweets, some wire and a big roll of duct tape. Did someone say "paedophile kidnappers"? :P

Plus of course, there was the testing phase... Which included me standing on a desk holding onto a hatstand with a wire on it, sending Churchill Dogs down the wire... :sure:

I didn't notice it was the same until it was pointed out... Though this time it's standing as opposed to sitting down...

we're you on the clock during this little event? If the answer is yes, can you fax me a job application, and information about the cost of living in your area??

Hehe. :) If you mean 'was this during work hours, then the answer would be a resounding yes. :beam:

The DeathSlide thing happened about four times during the day, every hour, so we all went down to play and make bets. :) There was all kinds of stuff going on round the building, people wheeling trolleys of cakes and muffins and stuff round for you to buy...

Basically productivity slowed to about zero throughout the entire day. :)

Next big event is the Fancy Dress Day before Christmas... :P

That is great. I love the little yellow thing in the first picture!

Now, lets see if I can go down the zip line

Kitiara

The 'little yellow thing' in the first picture is Zippy. :)

Americans probably won't have ever heard of the English children's programme cakled Rainbow, but it was an absolute classic. George the pink hippo, Bungle the bear and Zippy the... Whatever he was. :P

And who can forget Rod, Jane and Freddy three-in-a-bed... If anyone want s to find out why us Brits are the way we are, look no further than our children's television. :P

asphaltcowboy
September 19th, 2003, 05:56 PM
lol, Rainbow was absolutely brilliant! :beam:

Thor: lmfao! asphaltcutout! :thumb: hehe, glad you knew to put me in the lead as well ;)

Kitiara
September 19th, 2003, 06:20 PM
We do sell it... Quite how much is another matter... :P

Time for another photo!

Here were have Dan again (I've moved the cutout you'll notice) and Simon, who is trying to rig the result by strapping a pair of pliers to the back of one of the participants. His nefarious tactics failed to pay off however, and Alf came in... well, last, really. :P
