i saw this site on the web a couple of days ago and i got curious on how they do it (http://www.ubiquitygallery.com/ -- click on the Ian Williams under the GAllery link and choose any picture) its a simple way to present a picture but its cool=). i hope someone could enlighten me on how to do this or better yet have a sample on how to do it like kirupa did on the fading grid...thanks to ya all

Woah, that is a pretty cool effect.. I can't tell how it was done though. Man, i just keep looking at it... I'm stumpped. Maybe it was done exernally? like in after effects or something, and then exported to an swf?

they are sort of dynamically loaded, when you click on a button, it changes a variable which tells the picture effect sequence to start over, and also another one that shows the picture (it is set up like "picture"+_root.variable the picture effect is actually just a bunch of masks (well there are three images of random squares that move over each other -- actually not random, scattered)

yep, that's pretty much it, I just duped 3 clips, all of which contain the entire image gallery and work off of a variable that is set from the user clicking gallery buttons. each of the three instances resides on a different layer and is scripted under a grid style mask (actually this part took the longest) to a different easing ratio. Then there's just a bit of code that checks the position of all 3 duped mc's and proceeds once they've found their proper position.
thanks for checking out my site and the kind words, all.
now, if i could just finish it:tb:
