I like the opening of the site, background loop got me interested :) I like that...I want to see more :) It would be nice if u could somehow improve that logo...just a bit, maybe a shadow...I like the illustration. Those 2 monkeys in pixels? Do they represent someone or ....

Good idea dude, i was trying to do something similar here in my conutry (mexico), but is so sad that the designers think here that it is a bul@#! proyect, it is very disapointing that ppl act like that, saying all those things.

i asked very nicefully in a mexican designer's forum... and all i got in return was bull!@), its very sad isnt it...

That sux that they do not want to make a better community or should I say another resource. Have you ever thought they may not want the competition or feel it is a challenge? I any event it is a sad state that they do not support you. You notice this guys has all the support of our members such as myself. As designers you should really stick together. I support you but I am afraid I do not know spanish so I dont know how good of a member I would be. But on the other hand you should still do it even if you dont have their support....The proof is in the pudding!!

lets say VisualAid wants to have his website developed in designlegion with all of us involved :) lets say there is a logo to be done for his idea right there on your site...and all of us lets say 20 members or more 200 if u will creates a specific design of his choice....and the winner after the review for the best logo, author can get some points that puts him in position on top 10 designers of that month ...or designer of the year spotlight section...dunno..

I always found phpBB a good forum based script. and you can get lots of different scipts for point systems and the such :).

hey that is a good idea I think ExpertsExchange does that to a certain degree. The person that asks the question gives it a value (points) and whoever answers the question first and correctly gets the points. But they also have a system where you have to buy points that sucks so dont so that. But I think it is a unique idea. The forum here has a rare breed of helpful folks I have never been part of a forum quite like this one tho. We could use more of them thats for sure

you could maybe be an editor of the forum that is if you have a lot of experience and know what u doing....but yeah basically can be a working forum that we could reskin add graphic here and there and make it function the best we can...so its not as slow and its easy to understand....many newbies around these days...

Nikini- I think you need to stick around, your design skills need maturing and you can learn from the gang here. No Love lost. Mr. Mass's site is tight so obviously he has some skill VA I am not sure about. BUt everyone here can help you in future endeavors.

The downs are......
I think the pop-up isn't good because many have a pop-up blocker (like me). Maybe you would consider making the site in HTML? It is hard to make a tutorial/community with Flash.

If you are going to make a forum vBulletin is the way to go, it costs 160 dollars for a lifetime of use or 80 a year.

I am very good at setting up phpBB 2.0.6 (free) but vBulletin is much better.

well a. you can use a flash forum (I hate all Flash forums) or just give in and make it HTML.

I think XHTML or HTML is your best bet.

Why do you have an age limit on this? What if a person who is good at design and is 40 or 50 years old?

What difference does it make? For example, how old am I? Can you tell? here on the web, age means nothing at all. Only ideas are important.

Is it just a forum or what? I've visited the site but it doesn't seem very clear about what to do. I thought it would be a showcase for all those who joined up including links and services we are able to offer. It just looks like a forum.

no we are working on getting the tutorial area up and working on writing some tutorials. :)

However I don't have FTP or Admin CP access so I can't do it myself. :(
