Just picked up The Family Guy DVD 3rd Season and it's hilarious. I just got into this show in the last couple of weeks and didn't realize that it was so funny. Does anyone else watch this? There's 22 episodes in the set and it ran me $40 new. If you haven't seen it, it's kind of like The Simpsons meet The Osbournes. I highly recommend it!
;):P

If you're reading this and thinking, "this is spam, I think I'll say something witty that everyone's dying to hear," then do us all a favor and skip it because it's probably unorigional and ultimately useless.

Very true. The first couple of times I watched the show, I was unimpressed, however, I caught about a week's worth of re-runs and got hooked. It's like watching the Simpsons... Often, the humor lies in the anticipation of a character's reaction because of your personal connection with that character. That's also what made the Cosby show such a success back in the day. The kids would say something and the whole place is laughing even before ol' Dr. Huxtable even gets the words out of his mouth.

I've got the first three seasons on DVD, and they're awesome. :) I even rate Family Guy higher than The Simpsons and Futurama. It's just that darn good.

It's worth it for the wit and wisdom of Stewie alone... :)

I love Futurama, yeah, I know I am an odd ball..

I got all the episodes that ever came out... except a couple, but almost all and lovin' it! I love their satirical message, that is not even apperatn after the few times you watch it!

Also they have the greatest quotes:
"Jamaica has SO much more intrest than just limboing!.... Thats why our team was detained at the airport."

Futurama is a great cartoon - not as good as the Family Guy or the Simpsons in my books but very enjoyable :)

I just got the season 3 on DVD this weekend - and it's amazing! I sheltered myself from watching any 3rd season episodes on tv just so the DVD would be all new to me. I laughed so hard... what a great series.

I guess they are making a full length movie of the series as well as some "made for DVD" episodes just because the dvd's are selling so well. I wish they would just make it a tv show again, but you can't complain I guess :)

I like futurama more than family guy :( I have simpsons 1-3, family guy 1-3 and futurama 1-2 and in watching them, Ive definitely noticed myself laughing more at futurama. Though, I immitate Stewie more than any other character .... BLAST!

“Ah, the breakfast thing. Yes, it wasn’t about the eggs really, frankly I like the yolks, I... I don’t... I have no problem, it’s, there’s always been a lot of tension between Lois and me and it’s not so much that I want to kill her. It’s just that I want her not to be alive anymore. I sometimes wonder if all women are this difficult, and then I think to myself, ‘by God wouldn’t it be marvelous if I turned out to be a homosexual?’”

“I have an army to raise and I must get to Managua at once! I require a window seat and an in-flight Happy Meal. But no pickles! Oh, God help you if I find pickles!”

[Hiding in the girls’ locker room] “Oh! They’re getting nude! Well I mustn’t watch, it’s not the proper thing to—Whoa! I say, nice ones, Jeanine! And look at Lisa in all of her curvaceous glory! Heavens, it appears that my wee wee has been stricken with rigor mortis."

When he recited all 52 states in 1/4 second, I laughed so hard I thought I was going to throw up. I started choking like an idiot. I think it was in the Brian does hollywood episode.

I think Family Guy is the funniest cartoon ever, head and shoulders above The Simpsons (who happen to be painted on the walls of my dorm halls here!)

I sadly don't have enough money to get the DVDs, but I watch Cartoon Network's Adult Swim all the time to see it :)

I never really watched the Family Guy when it was on prime time, but I got introduced to it here at college. It's one of my favorite shows now...I'm not sure if I could rate it above the Simpsons, only b/c Family Guy was on 3 seasons while the Simpsons has been on 14.

I know The Simpsons has been going for longer... But Family Guy I just find funnier. I'm not quite sure why, they're both based on a similar premise, but Family Guy is probably more my kind of humour I guess... :)

That's not to say that The Simpsons isn't funny. It is. :)

Simpsons is also a little dated. They're too familiar and Family Guy is new and fresh ... in comparison. Therefore its reasonable to favor it now.

I think the major difference is that there are some boundaries that show (FG) is willing to go over. The show has a bunch of racial, political, sexual, feminist jokes and though people are separated based on that, others still think it's funny. Also FG is really random. Most of the humor that comes out of that show is from what you'd never expect to happen next.

Agreed - Family Guy isn't afraid to be do or say things that aren't strictly acceptable. They've made cracks about women and feminism, but I didn't get offended, it was funny. :)

And I can't go without mentioning their version of William Shatner - absolute comedy. :P

And Death! Argh, how could I forget Death? :) And Quagmire! "All riiiight" ;)

giggidy giggidy giggidy!

in the third season there is another episode with William Shatner - he plays a bit part in the musical "fiddler on the roof"

It's only a few seconds but VERY funny as usual :)

*Switches incoming email alert to Quagmire*

Some of the lines he comes out with are just so off the scale... :P

"You must be THIS beautiful to ride the Quagmire."

And the one where Meg walks in on him... "No problem, Meg! You just bought me an extra three minutes."

I love family guy, it is one of the funniest shows, I have ever seen. Sometimes, as I am watching and laughing my arse off, I realize that these are things that should really offend me but, for some reason i just cant stop laughing at them.

Brian's crush on lois was hysterical....they are all so funny
