New Client

Check this out, i just got this new client www.manheimsoccer.org its the local soccer club and they had a site already but i am supposed to redo it and this is what i came up with.

im trying to keep it simple and to the point because its mostly for checking schedule changes, and rain outs


do you think this is an improvement or not?


oh and the nav might be a tab nav thing

you know a good place for simplistic and inspiration....is www.nike.com and navigate to their nike soccer area. That is a very effective design and simple......But dont rip them but maybe a good source for ideas. I am not really feelin the design right now......But keep at it

yeah but that takes way too long to load. my target audience is soccer moms that are just checking right before games to see if they are still playing as scheduled. so flash is out cuz it takes too long to load and if they dont have the plug-in they wont check again.


but if you have any suggestions(even if it is just starting over) it would help

It has more class then the old design, sure. I have a feeling your client will say it looks too plain if you show it to them at this stage. Better put their emblem on top first, and all those links they have somewhere.

yeah good point but you do not have to make it flash. I was just thinking maybe you can draw inspiration from the design. I would jazz it up. Even if it is just soccer moms. Women are generally more visual and respond better to colors. So says my design theory course. Also just because you intended audience pool is shallow does not mean it cannot be cool. Let it flow man.

ok how bout this idea:

i scrap that one i made;
i put the news/updates on a quick loading splash page;
i make the actual site more flashy with more graphical content and such;

how do you guys feel about the news on the splash?

I like the colors. But I think you should work on the "logo" (like elisoe has made) because it's kind of a turn off when the 2 colors are crossing right between the letters.. you know? And im not really a fan of that soccer guy with the filters .. try just having a large focal picture (www.sxc.hu for good ones) and plllleassse no times new roman! it's the worst font.

good ideas, good potential, but some work needed. good job :)

i was planning on making the logo vector just havent gotten to it yet. thanks for the suggestions!
