If you wish to be considered for the SOTW for September 13 - September 19, 2003, please read the summary of rules:
1) Reply by the end of Friday, September 19 to be considered for this week's award.
2) Include the URL and your email address.
Only the webmaster/creator of the site can submit.
Only one submission per person per week.
Submissions are capped at 10 each week, so don't wait or hesitate until the last minute.
Include a brief synopsis of your site inluding its purpose, or maybe some features you wouldn't want anyone to miss.
3) Your site does not have to be full Flash to be eligible. Whilst you still must employ Flash to some extent, we are also looking for the overall design and usability of your site, not just your Flash skills.
4) While it is understood that sites are perpetually under construction, please submit only complete sites. Do not submit a site that is less than 80% finished.
5) Submissions must be actual websites with sections and content. Examples of ineligible include (but not limited to) flash games, movies, etc.
6) There will be a private poll among the moderators and a winner will be announced.
7) No critiques or feedback is allowed in the submission thread. If you wish a concentrated critique of your site, you may start a thread in Site Check. However, mod critiques will be posted when a winner has been selected.
For more information or questions, please refer to the Official SOTW Rules. Once you have read and understand the rules above, you may submit your site to this thread. Sites not adhering to the rules above will be disqualified and deleted. Submitting your site is an agreement and acceptance of the rules.

I love the fact that you do this. It's very informative, insightful, and good fun to see all the great work peolple are doing. However, I think the best part is that lenghthy detailed feedback is given. Feedback in this type of arena or contests of any kind is rare indeed. The question, "why did one ____ win over another?" is never answered. That's what makes yours so valuable. You answer these questions. It's real feedback.
Problem:
Feedback ended 5 weeks ago.
I was unfortunate to not have been selected back then and would love to get some constructive crit from knowledgable peers, that is so hard to come by.
I'm sure the others who have braved your scrutiny would also.
Hope you continue the practice.
Cheers!
ps
sorry to have broken the rules.

Congratulations to Free Muffins for winning this week's SOTW! You will be featured on the main page of Kirupa.com for this week. You may also post a graphical award from this page: http://www.kirupa.com/gallery/awards.htm
Good job to all the participants. One of the valuable aspects of SOTW is to get valuable feedback about your site and get an idea of how well it stands beside some of the best on the web. Mod critiques will be posted shortly.

Free Muffins: Opened in a pop up and took what seemed like an eternity to load, but what a site. Fantastic. I loved it. So simple, but there’s loads in here and it’s all very easy to navigate round. Don’t even get me started on the artwork, it’s awesome. The whole thing is put together well and is just great.
I don't think I've ever seen a site with such a long preloader... You should definitely try to fix that.
First of all I think it's a bad idea to have a Enter button made out of flash, what if the user doesn't have flash installed? What now?
Next I was wondering why the site was taking forever to download. I then realized that it contained a whole gallery of images that is loaded along with the main layout which is another bad idea. The images should be loaded dynamically when the buttons are pressed which reduces the initial waiting time.
Overall the layout is simple and clean, but the way it's set up could use more work.
Nikini: There’s banner ads here which were a little annoying until I turned on my pop up killer. Initial impression is that it looks nice, but when you actually try to go anywhere, none of the links work. At all. So… It’s pretty redundant.
Just some texts that change onPress... That's a bit light.
Nice try, but this site is still far away from being SOTW material. It lacks content and a good layout. The text is a bit blurry and I don't like how the buttons work on rollOver instead of onRelease. Also the sound loop is cool, but it doesn't loop perfectly.
GMH526: Nice little preloader that leads to a good looking site. I liked the photographic work here in particular, it looked very sharp and colourful. Definitely stands out against the darker background of the page. The movement keeps it interesting, and the content is well managed. I wasn’t too keen on the pop up for the contacts though, I didn’t see why a new window was needed.
Clean and simple, I like it. The pictures move a bit oddly sometimes though.
Love the images and the color. The layout is simple and organized which is a plus, but the contact page opens up in a new browser window which sort of kills it. Other than that, I think it's nicely put together.
H3lly: More banner ads, plus a new window anyway… Nice design though, it looks thoroughly modern. Nice vector work too. The only thing is… Where’s the content?!? All I could find was that front page, and the only link it had on it was to a designer’s site. Unless that’s what you want us to look at? So yeah, something other than one page might be an idea…
How do I get in?
Ok this is one confusing site. It's the first time I've been to a site where the splash screen takes you to another splash screen. wtf?! I sat there searching for any form of menu or navigation. The only thing that is clickable takes you to another site. I got tired of it and just closed everything.
FabFab: Wow, very trendy looking site and bright colours. It says it’s meant to be ‘street’ and that really does come over as far as I’m concerned. The whole thing is slick and urban in the way it comes together. There’s a few spelling errors dotted around that I noticed, so you might want to correct them.
Nice but what is it exactly?
Nice vector work and an interesting navigation system. The design isn't really my style, but I think it's nicely done. I think it would of been nice to see the background vector art change between sections though, just to keep things interesting

Syko Sabine: This looks brilliant, though I wouldn’t have minded a ‘Skip Intro’ button somewhere, as this did take a while to load up. Worthwhile looking at, I have to admit, as the transitions and overall design of this site are amazing. Sort of reminds me of 2A in a way... Again though, it does take a while to actually see and read any of the content. Lots to play around with, I liked the Desktops option to the side. Would have been nice if the Screensavers box was operational too…
Pretty cool but it's very slow on my computer.
Once again another site that uses a flash enter button. I feel sorry for the people who visit without the flash plugin.
The initial loading sequence is kinda long in my opinion. The rest of the layout wasn't too impressive. The text usage was inconsistent and cluttered.
Yeldarb: I think the idea of this is quite original, but needs some more development to make it more professional looking. The animation is kind of jerky on the dropping bubblegum, and the expanding box is pretty bland. Font… Font is too big, overpowering almost.
Everything is just too big. You need to give it more details (and a background too).
Nice try, but definitely not SOTW material. The gumball idea for a layout is creative, but the way it's designed is very unprofessional.
Lakoett: There’s a lot going on and moving on the homepage, but wow, another really gorgeous looking site. This is great to look at, really great. The colour scheme is so striking, it all blends in wonderfully. Pictures are quick to load and there’s an awful lot of content there. My one real complaint though would be that all the animation on the left is pretty distracting.
Wow, so many things are happening on the scree, that I felt a bit lost. Nice colors and layout, though.
I thought this one was the most creative out of all the sites submitted. I like the graphics used and the color scheme as well. The layout is simple so that's a good as well.
Itworks: Very quick to load, even though I couldn’t understand the text. The movement between sections is smooth and fast as well, so you’re never waiting long. Clear navigation which is good. I really liked the way the pictures look sellotaped onto the page, that’s a good little effect.
Nice and sober, very clean, I like it.
This was one of the better sites submitted this week that I kinda liked. The only problem with this is that it lacked color. I would like to see more color implimented. Overall nice and smooth.
Slayerment: So many cool sites this time around, and this is another one. I’ve seen the Atmosphere site before, but the Portfolio one was new. It’s all fantastic though, great layout that manages to get a lot of content into a reasonably small amount of space without it seeming cluttered. The images are broken up nicely for the display to the left and everything moves together so well.
I don't have a sound card on this computer, and it looks weird when mute Sorry about that.
Pretty slick effects, but the design work is a bit disappointing. The portfolio section looks nothing like the atmosphere section. It's like going to a whole new site. I tend to like consistency and that killed it for me.

How does freemuffins win if it is a tie. I think that is kind of unfair considering this is the second time slayerment lost from a tie that was given to the person on top. :-\
Just my opinion. . . .
