I am trying to find out what the cool effect used in Sci-Fi Commercials, and the zion docking bay scene in "The Matrix: Reloaded" as well as in "Minority Report" is called. It involves semi-transparent menus floating in space, being manipulated by fingers and sliding things back and forth. It looks really schmoothe and im working to capture its smoothocity in PS. But i was wondeing what it was called so maybe I could do some research on it. Thnx in advance!! :goatee:

*welcome to the forums domox*
Nyway - if your looking for an animation you've got to have a 3d app and even post production app (like After Effects)
If you're looking for a still, it doesn't look like it's impossible to do it in ps, all you have to do is work with layers, transparencies, a bit of blur and lighting as well slight color dodge...
Now remember that movies like that have teams with dozens of CGer working on SFX - so don't expect anything wonderful =)
mmh, I'll subscribe to this thread in case anyone comes with good pics/graphics...
cheers - mlk :)

if its a still it can be done in PS easy. otherwise do t in after effects if its motion, you cant do it all in a 3d app from what i hear.

I was toying with the effect to use in flash, so it was probably gonna be PS, saved as PNGs.
