View Full Version : Editing "[as]" code

Time and time again this frustrates me. The AS tag is evil...
If you try going back and editing a page with an AS tag, the formatting "is applied" to the text, instead of showing you the original tags.
I'm guessing the AS tag is only used when submitting messages so the <span> tags only have to be rendered once instead of every time someone views a post, yet it is getting REALLY annoying.
Is there a possibility of fixing this? A lot of the time, I use CODE instead just because it's easier to go back and edit. Otherwise I have to "clean paste" the code into Notepad and paste it back into the post without the formatting.

You're using the wrong editing mode or browser, I think. I've been using that tag for years without having any trouble, even when I'm editing posts.
I use the "Standard Editor" that you can select in the Options section of the User CP. Browser-wise, I use either Chromium or Firefox.

Fantastic. That fixed it. I was using "Enhanced WYSIWYG"
Actually,
TESTING
this.stage.parent.removeChild(stage);
this.stage = null;
EDIT: Wonderful! :) Thanks.

REBUMP...
Darn. Now I don't see the font actually turn bold/italic etc when I click the button. I only see those ugly tags, which is fine and usually what I see in other forums, but I miss the "live preview" of the formatting.
Any way I can have my cake AND eat it?
Other tags such as QUOTE and CODE seem to edit just fine and return to the original brackets when edited. The AS tags seem to be forced to apply the formatting on edit. :(

So that's the trick! I have the same problem as IqAndreas. So reverted back to Standard Editor.
If that's the case then why name it enhanced editor. :lol:
Also I'm having fun typing emotion icon codes just like this :krazy:. And searching for the emotion icons usually takes a lot of time and typing the : : code didn't work for me in the 'not' enhanced editor.
btw the emotion icons in this forum are really :cool: and funny.. :big-mouth:

Yep, I'm REALLY missing the "live preview" editor. (really, really, really missing it)
I'll gladly fix the code if someone can send me the PHP files that deal with the editor and AS parsing. Then I can send the code back, and they can be meticulously inspected to check that I didn't insert any evil code that makes all really good posts change their author to me. :whistle2:
