Man this is way kool, one thing i have found, when i was testing (simulating download) a web site I'm creating at the moment for a client in 2004 pro, It preloaded the external movies as well !!!!! that would make me buy it for this feature alone, Woohoo!! :beam: :beam:

andr.in
September 10th, 2003, 07:50 AM
preloaded them like they were a part of the main movie?

.soulty
September 10th, 2003, 07:55 AM
when you run your main movie , which has external movie that load in , they are simulated as they are would be preloading on the internet, before it would just preload the main movie and then load the externals straight in, it actual simulates them as well!!!!!!!!!!

Design is still the major aspect when it comes to flash and web creation.

Sure there are calander componants and easy time line effects and what have you - but if you make something that looks like crap with all these great new advancements than how much farther ahead are you really?

piracy is for sissies who think they deserve everything without earning it.

it is probably one of the reasons there are a lot of bad flash sites out on the web. when you work hard to get the money to buy a program like this, you tend to make sure you learn it to the best of your ability, but if you download it and get it for free then you don't really care because you can always toss it aside at no loss to you.

that's just my humble little opinion

claudio: i guess thanks, but I worked hard to get out of this team only to get flung right back.... stupid rubber band effect :m:

Yeah, right now since I can't afford mx 2004 I think it is overpriced :P , but I do know it is worth every cent in the end so I am not as mad that it is expensive as I am upset that I can't afford it :pirate:

And yeah, those bad flash sites make good flash sites stand out, but at what cost :x

Im against piracy, but agree with 3d-iva that some softwares are way too expensive.
But that has already been discussed here...

rvanet
September 10th, 2003, 03:12 PM
Well that's your opinion and i highly respect that. And now here's mine:

yes that's right. but i do not think that bad flash sites exists for reasons that they are using pirated softwares. People are created unique, different from each other. They vary as to their taste or their likes.

They are overpriced because the sissies lost reffered to a minuite ago rob companies of thier products. The companies in turn inflate the price of thier product to make up for lost sales.

Cothing stores work the same way. They increase the price of thier merchandise to supliment the loss from theft.

No - of course not. I mean, of course! I should be getting my copy shipped to the dorm in a few days, and I'll try my best to start writing a few tutorials on the basics of Flash MX, etc.

I haven't discussed with the mods yet, but I guess a new forum section, etc. will be created soon :)

Cheers!

Extension manager does not even see the program. I want to know if my extensions will work in 04 before I full out devote to it. MM said it will but I want to see it for myself.. As it stands extension manager does not even see it.

Its possible they will need to rewrite the extensions... possible but I would think and hope not. I know the Flash components had to be rewritten for MX2004. You might want to try to manually install them and see if they work.

On the not of pirate software, I think its okay if you are goin to learn it. Makes perfect sence. thats why Microsoft gives away all of the software for like 40$ and you can get anything at my uni.

Here are the features I noticed to be nice and semi-nice about Flash MX Pro 2004! :)

Very nice title bar color!
Word Wrap in actions panel
Integrated Help
Alias Text (not so nice output! I'm particularly glad my pixel fonts look way better still! :))
Polystar Tool
Tabbed Windows
Organize Projects
Define Sites like in DWMX
Behaviours (select a behaviour copy and modify it)
Simulate Download (even for loaded SWFs)
Timeline Effects (but I don't think it's great)
Javascript Integration
CSS
A wide selection of Components
New Character Option (I don't really like the free selection process)
Publish Settings Profiles

I uninstalled directly the trial cause it ate alot of disk space. I'm trying Dreamweaver MX 2004 next! :)

senocular
September 11th, 2003, 06:58 AM
what about the bad things? I despise the fact that the interface is more crammed :a: The properties bar alone is about 20% larger in MX 2004. That combined with document tabs and that spacing between the work area and the panels just makes things more cramped! Not everyone is running at 1600 x 1200 resolution or has the pleasure of 2 monitors  I remember the space issue being a big thing with MX 1.0, yet I dont think I have heard any complaints about it in MX 2004 :-\

...granted, you can collapse the panels :P but still (you could also hide them in MX with tab)

...ok another thing against my argument is that the output window is now a panel, thats plain unadulterated joy

... and the library when opened appears embedded in the rightmost panels

I am no longer bothered by these things since I close all panels and just use short cuts to open the ones I need! :)

Anyway here's the main things I like in Dreamweaver MX 2004:

Reads and re-creates your DWMX defined sites (this is cool since it saves you the trouble of re-creating them yourself!)
Create from samples
Tabbed Windows

:)

i'm running 1600 x 1200 and it's still cramped :(
and i dont like how the maximize and minimize for the window don't go up by the big ones anymore, the extra title bar takes up EVEN MORE space.

I suggest using closing all panels and using the keyboard shortcuts to open panels that you need and when you need them only. It can guarantee at least 2x faster design process. :thumb: Me I use this techniqe even though here in the office we use two 17" monitors!
