Hey ya'll need your opinion on a layout concept.
The History: A client of mine who chose to dump because their nephew knew how to do websites. SO he put together this wack layout but could not deliver the final goods since he was too **** inexperienced. So my job was to deliver it and make it cool. Please let me know what you think. I am not totally finished. But I hate round sites and this concept was handed to me. I have to make it cool basically.

Their product is round therefore they are hella wnating a round site. And the original file was similar but horrible. I added a lil spice and better color.

I agree. The shadow bothers me for some reason.
I like the layout, even tho it is an "elipse" ...

thanks rev and kei...It looks real wack without the shadows...I think I'll do it in flash, but they paid for a html site. I really dislike "elipse" sites but the customer is always right.

nope they set the colors too. I knew they would come back around. This is a big company and to let your 13 year old nephew who got front page for free with his lil DELL computer do your site is absurd

I was thinking maybe just another couple of lines of color instead of the shadow...
I had an Illustrator instructor who wouldn't answer a question on drawing "circles," but he would answer questions about "elipses."
He was a fun instructor... One of the few.

added some color per rev suggestion. There is a link to toggle back and forth between the 2 layouts. Let me know which one yall think is the better of the 2. If they both suck let me know that too.

I think they are both pretty cool. The second one definitely is better but that's from my p.o.v. because i like color. If your client is conservative then he will pick the first but someone who entrusts their company site to a thirteen year old doesn't seem to me to be conservative (or highly intelligent for that matter). :D

If your can use that yellow (clients colour choice) in the second 5th layout, definetly push that one as your primrary idea, looks so much more "cool" and runs with the logo nicely.
The only thing i would be picky about is that the title text "About Harbor Electronics" is getting lost being white on the whitish background, especially where the gradient slowly become white on the right. Othat than that layout 5 is very effective. Me likes !! :thumb:

Remeber you can always "SELL" the concept to the client, tell them why the particular one you like would be better, push it onto them tell them why you think it will work better, think of it as you are a service selling a product to a consumer, it all depends on your marketing strategy.(how well you can sell a idea)
Best of luck :)

I too like the second one....
Maybe make the yellow/gold band reach the right edge and "balance" it with dark grey one, sort of a ying/yang effect.
Good luck with it...:)

Thanks guys: I am going to push for layout 5.
Soulty: These guys are very hard headed, and really do not listen much. I am going to try to push for 5. The guys are relatively young to be executives (in their 20's!). But we will see how it goes.
Thanks for the advice Rev and the rest of ya'll
