it was prob done in PS, or FW, or PSP, etc. with a simple click of a button...

I don't believe it can be done easily in Flash.

you can create your bgrd in Fireworks or Photoshop preferably in Fireworks. Create a new document.......Draw your box and add a drop shadow filter.......Then export it as a .png32 (if using FW) and a .png24 if using PS. Then in flash import your newly created graphic.. And there you have it

In flash: fill a box with grey (gray?) (no outlines preferably =)) then goto Modify>Shape>Soften Fill, and play around with the options

Yup yup. That's what I do too when I want a more dynamic shadow. Say you have a box that's 100 by 100 pixels.

Copy it, paste it to a layer underneath the main box, fill it with black at 25% alpha, shrink it to 80 by 80 pixels, soften fill to expand 20 pixels in 20 steps (muss around with this, like mlk said).

what 3d said orrrr

make a white square, duplicate the layer, make the duplicate darker, then expand it to be slightly bigger than the white square.
make sure the bigger, darker square is on a layer underneat the white one, then do a gaussian blur on it...

all kinds of ways to get that effect...

i like PS' layer blend, drop shadow effect

I think PS or Fireworks way will give you the far more acurate results. But the others will work also.
