Hey guys. I start at Nottingham Trent Uni next week and I have just found out that my accomodation will not have internet access. Grr!! so annoyed! Oh well, i could always look for somewhere else whilst im out there and move out i suppose.
Anyway, apart from that im really excited about going to uni. I moved out from my parents last year, but i never left town. Its going to be great living somwhere new! Who else is starting Uni soon? Care to share your feelings?
Also, is there anyone else on here who is from/near Nottingham?

Asphalt: As students we should have a LEGAL RIGHT to net access (especially at the prices they charge for our rooms/prison cells). Its is a valuable 'learning aid' and would never be used for any other purpose ;) Perhaps we should start a protest?

it's a great uni - home students don't have to pay as much (obviously) in fact.. most uni's get most of their money from foreign students.. they charge an absolute fortune! :sure:

well, some rooms just don't have it. in my case, I'm moving into a house that's owned by the uni. chances are it won't have a net connection. I'll be lucky if I can dial out ;)

When I was Uni the halls didn't have phone points in the rooms - any telephone calls were through a payphone in the corridor. But the computer labs were always open to us computer science students. ;)

I'm not living on campus. Lucky for me I'm living at home with parents. I wouldn't be able to cope on my own :P :trout:
Surely you are given access to the computer labs around campus? I know the ANU has certain computer labs that are open 24/7. All you need is your uni ID card to get in. :thumb:

Well if schools there have security like schools here....you probly can, the school will probly say you can't but that's a minor detail ;).... most school lack the staff (and a lot of times the staff lacks the skills) to control what you do or do not with the computers.
Don't know how it's in merry old england though :). Orange hope you have fun at uni... studying days are over for me :(
i'm looking for work

I must have been lucky, the year before I moved into the dorm, they installed 10BaseT ethernet to all the rooms. Thats when I officially got hooked on high speed net access. =)
Cheers!
