If you wish to be considered for the SOTW for September 6 - September 12, 2003, please read the summary of rules:

1) Reply by the end of Friday, September 12 to be considered for this week's award.

2) Include the URL and your email address.

Only the webmaster/creator of the site can submit.

Only one submission per person per week.

Submissions are capped at 10 each week, so don't wait or hesitate until the last minute.

Include a brief synopsis of your site inluding its purpose, or maybe some features you wouldn't want anyone to miss.

3) Your site does not have to be full Flash to be eligible. Whilst you still must employ Flash to some extent, we are also looking for the overall design and usability of your site, not just your Flash skills.

4) While it is understood that sites are perpetually under construction, please submit only complete sites. Do not submit a site that is less than 80% finished.

5) Submissions must be actual websites with sections and content. Examples of ineligible include (but not limited to) flash games, movies, etc.

6) There will be a private poll among the moderators and a winner will be announced.

7) No critiques or feedback is allowed in the submission thread. If you wish a concentrated critique of your site, you may start a thread in Site Check. However, mod critiques will be posted when a winner has been selected.

For more information or questions, please refer to the Official SOTW Rules. Once you have read and understand the rules above, you may submit your site to this thread. Sites not adhering to the rules above will be disqualified and deleted. Submitting your site is an agreement and acceptance of the rules.

hey everyone,

just launched a new site for a great product design team in london.

got good feedback on the site check so i thought it was about time you all saw some of my work (god knows you all played your part in this)!

anyways its:

www.twocreate.co.uk

My style is understated, elegant and sophisticated (i hope!) and i don't like to design using lots of excess graphical elements.

I'm really proud of the two tier navigation, the transitions and generally the fact that the site is compact.

hope you enjoy it!

my email is kam@kdzines.com (please don't email me random things).

cheers

Riddla's website was not a game. The game was the preloader to his site. You must click "loaded" to continue to his site.

Congratulations to EDE for winning this week's SOTW! You will be featured on the main page of Kirupa.com for this week. You may also post a graphical award from this page: http://www.kirupa.com/gallery/awards.htm

Good job to all the participants. One of the valuable aspects of SOTW is to get valuable feedback about your site and get an idea of how well it stands beside some of the best on the web. Mod critiques will be posted shortly.

Bojan: Firstly a big thank you for offering users achoice of pop up or standard browser. That always scores brownie points with me. Nice little preloader too. Overall a clean, simple look and feel to this site. A bit more colour might make it more visually appealing though. I appreciate that English probably isn’t your first language, but you might want to get someone to run a quick spelling and grammar check over the copy of the site. There’s one or two little errors that I picked up on, though I am kind of finicky in that area. Loading times were quick, but I’d like to see more content.

Nice, clean and simple, but once we're in, there's not much happening

BenDurman: I really liked the way this site looked, it’s very fresh and easy on the eye. It would have been nice to perhaps have some kind of rollover on the left hand menu buttons, but that’s only a minor niggle. The Illustration Chooser worked very well, but I’d take off the redundant buttons, otherwise users are clicking on them and nothing’s happening. Only a few pages long, but it doesn’t really need more.

Good looking site, not much content but nice samples, I like it

Dave Seipp: A very bold colour scheme here, which stands out well. Again though it might have been nice to see some kind of rollover on the menu buttons. I loved the vector artwork and animations though on each section (the About one was particularly amusing), they were a great little touch. Same goes for the transitions on the image thumbnails, very well executed, plus the artwork was fantastic too.

The little vector animation is very cool, but the design is a bit too simple (and dark), I think.

Kdzines: Pop up alert! Very grey site, simple and minimalist, but I like that. The spinning wireframe in the corner… It was nice, but I couldn’t really see the point of it. Eye candy, I presume. The menu is easy to use too, though on occasions you could do with a preloader or something in there. I was looking at a plain grey screen for about 30 seconds at one point and wondered if I’d broken it. The main font seemed a little small though, as a minor nag.

What can I say, I love that kind of site. The menu is very cool too.

Hairos: Not found.

Won't open for me.

EDE: Wow, such bright colours! And beautiful looking as well, the Flash work here was great. The Audio off option took a little bit of finding though, it’s not immediately obvious. The general composition and artwork though is absolutely amazing. Very well put together and designed. Excellent site.

Colorful, nice. I was disappointed by the French 'version'.

Naseir: I liked the preloader on here, very ‘in your face’. An interesting layout too, with a subtle colour scheme. The ‘Back’ button for each section is a bit diffcult to find the first time, though once you’ve got it you get the hang of how it works. The animations of each section are nicely done, though the one area I would have really liked to have looked at was still under construction and had no content.

Looks a bit empty. Also, the preloader was a good idea, so why did you put an ugly bar, with an even uglier italic text? Last thing, your menu is either bugged, or not practical at all: when I arrived on the site, the 3rd button kept following my mouse.

Thereisnospoon: Well, it’s minimalist, certainly. No frills, no fancy bits and pieces… It’s simple and to the point. Which is good, if a little tedious after a while. Everything is easy to find though, and there’s no problems getting around. The text was a bit fuzzy at times though, perhaps some over zealous anti-aliasing on Flash’s part.

Shakirsq: A really funky looking site which appeals to me. Strong colours with some well drawn graphics. Everything is easy to find and use, which is really good. The transitions between pages are clean and sharp too, and there’s a lot of thought gone into how the sections look. I really liked the CD case for the Portfolio, that caught my eye.

The menu is nice, but the little links inside the buttons don't really work And the sliding window is a bit deja-view...

Capnatura: Very artistic. I watched the front page for about 5 minutes before even clicking on a menu option, since it was so intriguing. In my opinion though, the next levels down didn’t live up to the promise of that first page. The white background and soft imagery were replaced by black and harsh lines, and that didn’t work for me, it jarred. The content itself, the menu system, transitions etc were all very good, but the consistancy between areas just wasn’t right.

Arghh!!!
