Hey all

Been a while since i shown you guys/ girls something that i have created, here is something that is in WIP.

A logo animation created in maya and composed in after effects, still alot of work to be done, been delayed because of clients works taking priority.

Tell me what you think.

:: things that are going to be added are, flashes of white during logo electric/static animation occurs.

:: sound effects to amplify the effect of the bolts dropping. might be adding some zoom blur and masking to that effect as well.

:: static logo animation at the end, after logo is animated there will be a animation to a washed out white , where the static logo will be which be the end of the animation.

::: file is compressed with DIV-X 5.0.5

not bad man. If I can be scrutinous it looks like it is a lil plasticy instead of like metal. But that is just being over scrutinous. Looks good. Is it hard to use after effects? Have not done much with it. ::thumbs up::

I think it looks pretty good so far!

If I may offer a suggestion, I would like to see a more appealing camera movement and or angles. Other than that, it looks very good.

Cheers!:azn:

thanks dude, not sure if i was going for that metal look with the logo, just 3d version of the logo, i see what you mean though. I did that render a long time ago, might re-render it with less specular and a better material. Been ages since i have used maya or any 3d software, gotta give clients priority *cash* *cash* brings the *bling* *bling*. :smirk:

:: After effects is not too hard to use. I've used combustion and aftereffects and found that after effects was easier, probably because i have used it more, but i found it was more user friendly, easy to control effects and keyframe.

Though combustions 2d particle sprites are amazing !!! I mean you gotta see it to believe it.

All in all after effects is a nice place to start if you havent had any compositing experience before.

There are many tutorials for after effects so that always helps out.

thanks coolidge

yeah might look into the camera angle and movement , i have kinda based it on my story board i have drawn. but might add some dynamic angles to boost the energy of the movement to show speed as well, i do feel its kinda sluggish at the moment.

thanks for your suggestion.

pretty cool animation you've got there, and I agree it should look more like metal

and I don't really like the ending with the logo with the image underneath - maybe a simple black & white logo would be better...

thanks mlk , the ending was not suppose to be like that, i mentioned it on my first post.

:: static logo animation at the end, after logo is animated there will be a animation to a washed out white , where the static logo will be which be the end of the animation.

but anywaz , i made up my mind, will be starting again. probably use the same concept , but introduce better camera angles, better materials on the 3d render and more animated backgrounds, i 'm looking for that tv presentation logo look, something that you would see at the start of a super bowl, but that might be too hardcore to do with the time i have, I have the idea in my head, so thats a good start.

*back to the drawing board* :)

the new one should look much better, give me a few months though, lol --- I'll post my progress if i get time to. thanks for the suggestions.

:)

Yeah sure, there are forums at 3d buzz under compositing in the forums, sometimes some links to tutorials pop up there.

A very good one is Creative Cow

http://www.creativecow.net/index.php?forumid=1

http://www.creativecow.net/articles/aftereffects.html

I'm reading up the one at the moment on expressions in After effect 6.

Digital- tutors is another good one,

http://www.digital-tutors.com/digital_tutors/afterEffects/main_menu/index.htm

It has a few beginner tutorials (all .mov) so you can get the basics down. (Highly recommended)

hey nice animation :)
i think it'll be cool if light shines through the inside of the logo!

you know kei i had the same thought , was going to do that while that electric/static thing was happening to have flashing white (light) shinning through the logo, but as i said before , before i go further im going to go back and start again, will keep that in mind for the updated one. thanks on the comment :)
