Help with .ico files?

How can i make a .ico file without just changing the image ending from .png to .ico?

Microangelo, and icon making software is available for download on their site and cnet.
It is a 30 day trial.

If you have Photoshop, you can install the attached plug in this folder.

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop 7.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats

You will need to restart Photoshop.

When you save, go to File, Save As, and the .ico extension should be available.

*note that your directory might differ from mine, but that is the folder it needs to go in.

Ive got the file but dont understand what i have to do now!

(I do have adobe photoshop 7.0)

unzip it using winzip or winrar.

drop it in the folder:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop 7.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats
