Ronald McDonald Replaced by Timberlake
The global fast-food McDonalds franchise has just signed up Justin Timberlake - a singer-cum-dancer from the USA and popular with children - to a sponsorship-for-advertising deal for an undisclosed sum.
The Timberlake 35-city European concert tour will be now be sponsored by McDonalds, known worldwide for their inexpensive burger-and-fries meals. The tour is scheduled to start in Germany in November 2003
In a move to further play down their famous 'Ronald McDonald' character, the burger-making company want Timberlake to sing the new McDonalds' themesong (I'm lovin' it) in 'rap style' on their new commercials for television and cinema.

Screw the Clown. I hate those things.

But to replace him with that curly haired sixty pound little girl is a crime.

With that timberlake clown I bet they are going to have to change all thier signs.

Ya I heard last year of rumors they are going to slowly phase out the clown. McDonalds takes a lot of critazism for markating to young kids with the clown so they are looking and ways to minamize that. This way there are jsut goign to take flack for using such a tool of a spokesman.

I like Ronald - they should keep him around. McDonalds just wouldnt be the same without him there ya know.

Speaking of retirement, I bet now you will see him in those adds, just like spiderman and the hulk - those are classic ads :)

they say they are moving away from "advertising aimed at kids by using a clown"

I wonder how Mr. Box feels about this... Is the writing on the wall for the "Box Dynasty?"

For a guy his age, with no particular marketable job skills, Ronald had to resort to capitalizing on his weekend pottery classes and his passion for cacti...
...Allthough McDonalds was not amused with the similarities ... and 10,000 figurines had to be recalled for re-painting, Ronald remains optomistic and was quoted as saying, " ... things are looking up for this Clown :thumb: !"

hey, one time I took the lead out of a mechanical pencil, put one in each hand and stuck it in an electrical socket. My arms seized up and went numb for a few minutes. It felt weird.
-----------------------

Ronald is gone? HAHA! But replacing him with justin timberlake? I mean, I hate clowns, but if thats what they are planning on doing, they should keep ronald. Or hell, just sack them all and keep the fries guy as their mascot. That would be the only time I would buy from McDonalds. Currently the only thing I buy from mcdonalds is their icecream because everything else is radioactive.

reverendflash

funny.

macdonalds doesn't have "ice cream" ...

no dairy whatsoever...

synthetic...
