This may or may not be site check material but anyway. Could you guys tell me if the following layout scheme is too dark? It took me hours to create this awesome asphalt in photoshop and when I look at it on one of my older machines it looks dark. Like too dark to see the details. If you guys could let me know if you have problems viewing the asphalt detail please I would appreciate it.

BTW this is for a clothing line that is about to be released and they want me to be sure to say that the imagery is copyright to Phenom-Gear and cannot be used elsewhere (everytime I show it to folks they want me to say that).

Oh yeah I did the logo also so any comments on that appreciated

the file is kinda large sorry 56k's

It may be a bit dark. While I can see it fine, it may be dark on a lesser monitor...

thanks rev. yeah that is what I am thinking....... but I am going to use my results here to see if I am going to lighten it.

The orange background looks a million times better. I forgot to comment on the red before. Nice work as always. =)

if you could take the texture out of the letter portion, it might look more like a chiseled/cutout sort of thing, if you were headed in that direction...

Thanks twitch...that red was a bit weird.

rev-yeah I am after the stomped in the ground look. I was actually looking at a picture I took of some asphalt by my house and tried my best to mimick it with photoshop (100% without any imported images). Although I am not sure what you meant by the "letter portion". Did you mean the logo?

reverendflash

yes, the imprinted portion of the asphalt...

if it were imprinted, the texture would prob be diff than the rest is all...

hhmmmm....yes I tried to accomplish that with a contour layer prop with a diff texture and a diff layer blend......It got real confusing and I quit on that but since you recognized I think I'll re-visit it........thanks man.

looks fine on my laptop, but on my pc (no lcd-display) it looks quite dark, i still can see the details but its much darker than on my laptop... the display of my pc is a scott 19 ", 1 year old, somehow it displays dark things darker than they are, i first saw it wehn playing mohaa, although i did not change the settings of the screen...

somthing about the concrete or asphalt or what it is: it looks a bit too shiny for me, a little bit like metal...

That's probably going to be your delemma....On the better monitors (I have a 19" Hitachi) when you lighten it it'll look wet, but would look OK on a lesser display.

Nice work..!!!

thanks guys. Yeah it looks wet on one of my lesser monitors. I was actually mimicking wet asphalt from a pic I took in front of my house. But I guess it is cool since the content will be over the top of it. Now my next dilemna is compressing it so it is not this huge file. Right now at 55% quality that image is still over 100k. Are there any 3rd party optimize tools out there for jpg's. ?????
