So... i was taking a look at the forums yesterday (1 hour ago) and i saw a lot of posts asking for a team to work on a project.
as most of us don't look at the job offer forums and stuff, and this section of the forum has it's own public, i will give kirupa a suggestion about the forum structure.
what do you think a sub-forum should look like?
I think kirupa should make a forum for game design with the following sections:
-job offers: free and paid.
-single player.
-multiplayer.
-general help.
and for all languages not only a sub-forum for Flash
it would help a lot, but i need your opinion before sending any e-mail
what would be the best option to expand this forum?
should we bother about changing it?
any proven-to-work structure you want to suggest?
we put it all togheter here and then send kirupa an e-mail =D

how about putting job offers in a sidebar that's on every page so everyone can see them?

hehehe neat idea!
how about making the forum like an big iGoogle so we can put gadgets and drag and drop "iframes" so we see what we wan't and store that info on our user account?
(that would need a complete refactoring in the site)
would be good.
but for now, a simple Game Design forum (more space for us) will do the job...

Well, I question the necessity of breaking it down into so many sub categories, as the game programming forum here seems to get 0-3 new posts a day, which I dont' think is so much to manage. But I do think the random requests to throw together a team for an awesome new MMO should probably get dumped to the job offers forum, because I see the game programming forum as a place to post questions & topics about development, not production & management.

I agree completely.

With this I don't agree. This forum is currently called "Game/AI Programming". So the forum is purely about coding and isn't for anybody/anything else. Not about game design, art or production. I think all these are aspects of game development and that the forum should be actually about that. I think money should be left out of the forum at all costs (see what I did there? :)), but I think questions about how to manage a production are valid in that context. Especially if there are lots of people looking to start a team. It's a part of bieng a game developer how to be part of a team, but also how to set your own deadlines, deal with feature creep, using project management programs.
Btw: is it that there's a job section that there's no sticky how to properly do a pitch?

I guess I don't really care if people make their pitches here, but it's kind of tiring to see the same, lousy pitches every time.
