Hi, i was wondering how can i create a "grid" over a face

i have an image of someone, and i want to create a grid over her face, something that looks like a 3d structure....

a) make it in photoshop with a nice bevel & emboss option

b) make it in 3d, it will look better, and then compose it in photoshop

*edit: do you mean on the skin ? you're gonna have problems here since you need to have some perspective, i'd then recommend making it in 3d over a head model...

you could use a pen tool and just try to work out the places where it would be stretched/squished... might take a while though :P

morse - imagine a 3d wireframe...

or, make up a b/w image of the face, with white being the extruded part's of the face, and just cram a displacement thingie on it, using the b/w image :)

by which I mean use displacement on a regular grid. :)

or use the pen to do curves that fit the face...

Follow along here to map a texture image to a person....

1. Open the image you want to apply the texture to

2. Make a dupe.....Image>Duplicate....Then go to Image>Mode>Greyscale

3. Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur....(to the greyscale image)(2px for 72dpi......4 or 5px for 300dpi images)....Go to File menu and save the blurry greyscale image as a .psd file and name it map...(you'll need that later !!!)

4. Open the "grid" image you want to place over the image......Use the move tool to drag the texture image on top of the original image

5. Press Ctrl+A...Then go to Filter>Distort>Displace....Enter 10% for Horiz & Vert Scale, under Displacement Map>Stretch to Fit and for Undefined Areas>Repeat Edge Pixels>OK

6. When the "Open File" asks to "choose displacement map" locate the "map.psd" from Step 3>Open.

7. Press Ctrl+D....In the Layers Palette click the eye to hide the texture layer.....Highlight the original image layer....Select the background area of that layer....(Magic wand if it's a solid background is easiest, otherwise the pen or lasso tool will be needed)

8. With that selection still "active" click on the texture layer to make that the active layer....Press Backspace....Hit Ctrl+D

9. Change the Blend mode of this layer to Soft Light....If Soft Light is too soft try Overlay or even Multiply for a darker effect.......Lower Opacity if it seems too intense......Use the eraser tool on the texture layer to erase over the eyes and/or other parts to complete the effect.

There you have it...!!!!

Eberth have tried playing around with the liqufy tool. Put the grid over the face the nrase and lower it to fit the contoures of here face.
