How much are we getting paid?

What's the project?

I seem to remember someone else coming onto the forum with a random, vague project and it not ending to well *cough* reebok *cough* :thumb:

Fat - you'll need to provide more information before most members here will show more interest in your offer.

Another person who needs to look up the definition of 'vague'... ;)

A few more details might be nice. :) Most people are happy to provide portfolios, but they need a little more in the way of information before they do so. :)

I don't think it's arrogant to ask for more information before sending off contact details and a portfolio to someone you've never met / spoken to before. Personally, I like to know who I'm dealing with before I do that, what they're offering, and whether or not they're on the level.

Would you place a job advert on TotalJobs or Monster that just said "I want freelancers" and nothing else? And how many replies do you think you'd get?

You're right, fatmammal. I cannot believe how arrogant everyone is for not lavishing you with interest in your generous business opportunity.

Seriously folks, look at the presentation. Look at the name! Firstly, the guy calls himself "fatmammal." Descriptive, factual-- this is obviously the name of a no-nonsense project-oriented leader, and certainly not of a porkchop. Secondly, notice the passion, the entrepreneurial spirit symbolized in ALL CAPS, no punctuation, and total lack of details. Truly, the work of a master. This offer just screams IM A PROFESSIONAL WITH LOTS OF MONEY AND EXPERIENCE LEADING A TEAM TO COMPLETE PROJECTS! GRAMER SUXX0R5!

So let me conclude that I'm ashamed to be associated with such pompous individuals here at kirupa.com who refuse to shift their paradigms to a new dimension and think out of the box. I apologize most sincerely for the total lack of respect my fellow Kirupians have shown you, fatmammal.

if you give more details, i may take you up on the offer, it depends on if it's within my capabilities, and what it's paying

no, this thread should stay, and be a beacon to those who wish to do the same thing.

If someone wants to hire some help, then they should approach it like a professional, not just hoping you will be inundated with offers of portfolios.

Even with my best client, an ISP, he has to tell me what the gig is about before I agree to take it on. Just common sense is all.

So, no, I am not going to delete this thread. And you shouldn't take this so personally, you were the one who was the master of the vague...

EDIT: re-reading it.. I've just realised how ridiculous it is - you don't even say whether it's gonna be art.. or flash.. or web programming, or.. anything.. what programs will we need? how long will it take?

If you want yet another example of how far vague posting gets you, you can read all about it here: http://www.kirupaforum.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33040 :thumb:

how is it our loss? you've been completely stubborn. there is NO ONE who will commit to something that they don't even know about... good luck finding someone who will... how is it our fault that you don't grasp the concept of adjectives...

So, the lesson to all is: Give detail, be polite - or else you will find many a boot up your arse.

hey Fatmammal, I hope you're not too pissed at us, but it's happened already and a member was banned. Stick around and check people's http://www.kirupaforum.com/forums/images/home_website.gif (http://www.asphaltdesign.co.uk/) website under their footer - if there's someone you find interesting then ask him.

and again don't be pissed and stick around, we're usually a bunch of nice people =)

did you like the big enter extranet button that takes up 20% of his homepage, and goes to a "coming soon" static page?

You are correct, Pranalabs needs help.

This is like the 3rd or 4th time this has happend. Maybe we should have a Job forum with a good set of rules on how to properly post.

Its kind of sad realy casue these could lead to jobs or contracts if things where posted corectly.

well, I did explain to poor old fatmammal right at the start of this thread, that he needs to give more info. of course, he chose to get arsey instead of just giving at bit more information.. in fact... lots of us told him.. :sure:

yeah, not a bad idea though

Kitiara

So does DeviantArt. There's a job forum there...

Though perhaps it would be a better idea to have some kind of form for people to fill mi rather than just letting them post any old vague rubbush. Required fields - Site, Projects, Pay... ;)

Exactly my point.

This way all some one would have to do is say refer to the rules. People might get less defensive this way.
