New Wacom...Fun

Well I been experimenting with my Wacom Intuos2 4x5 and I have to say this is the best tablet ive owned. ( I also had a crappy aiptek that I decided I wanted to ship it back 20 minutes after I tried it out )

Well Im trying to getting used to drawing on a tablet, and I can say that im not too talented :block:

I basically want to draw what Kitiara draws. Im not sure what tool to use/what thickness/settings to use to actually get the anime type effect. And usually its hard to get really smooth lines in photoshop with the tablet. But hopefully as I progress ill be able to draw pretty good.

So far im sketching out what I want my first anime character to look like, I know its not the best but thats because its just a rough sketch. I know what looks wrong and everything but its getting late and im not really in the mood to fix it up after spending about an hour on it at 10 pm (tired)

Can anybody tell me how I make my lines smoother through the wacom? Its really hard to draw smooth/straight lines. Argh!

This makes having single line outlines and not sketching alot harder. I can only sketch to make it look semi good, When I outline it in black and stuff its all messy and squiggly. I cant get any smooth lines or anything!

have you tried painter (often shipped with the wacoms) it's the best tool for using the tablets...

The person here who knows best about wacoms is vts, and I don't remember having seen him lately...

What you can do is take your sketch and make line art with it, and then fill it up, maybe that's what kit does, you'd have to ask her =)

OK, I've sent you a PM, Nova, hopefully that should explain what I do... :)

I've found there's a couple of ways to get a smooth line:

1. You can have a really steady hand. I don't. :P

2. Use small strokes with the pen. This is what I do, but I don't try to do one huge long curby line because (at least in my case) it often goes wonky.

3. Use the Pen tool. I do this too. You pick the start and end points and curve the lines to fit. That gives the smoothest line I've ever managed to get. :)
