So I went to the DMV a few days ago trying to get my permit so I can rampage the roads. It turns out, I don't have my green card even though I thought I always did have it. So basically I'm an illegal alien here in the US now. I am no different than those Mexicans that sneak across from the border. :(

How did this happen. :*(

Don't you have a Visa....? You don't really have to have a green card, I think, as long as you renew your visa status and/or obligations.

I'm 16. I'm pretty sure I have a green card because I remember when we first got it, there was a mistake on there that said I was a female for some reason (trust me, I'm male, I checked and doublechecked) so we sent it back and I think we have it back, but again, I don't know where my parents keep them.

Right now, I don't know where they are. They're gone for about two days now. The first night, my gf came over and slept over, so that wasn't so bad. Tonight, I'm beginning to worry about my parents. I'm running low on food.

I wouldn't say I'm 'neglected'. I have dial-up which is definitely neglecting. Otherwise, I get food, shelter, and thats all that I ask.

I think I'll call pizza if I start starving. But thanks for the offer, Josh (xxviii) lives like a few hours away, so he can feed me. And I think Jubba lives close too.

But seriously, I don't really know parents that will take me in or I can even 'lean on'. There is a few I guess that can stand me, but otherwise, I don't think I'm being abandoned.

Max,

You could call the INS asking to check the status of your green card, but tell them it is not for you....Tell them your cousin, brother whomever you want to make up doesnt speak english and is trying to find out the status on his green card, he ran into a problem at the RMV.

They will either tell you we, cant give out his information but will mail to his address, (which would be yours) or they will tell you.

You can call a lawyer and they will tell you to call the INS, if they call the INS, it will cost you and being that you are a minor, they cant work for you unless your parents call them (from what you have sadi i dont think that will happen)

I have a professor who works for INS and is a lawyer, if you call and cant figure it out let me know I will try to contact him and see what I can find out but, I know he will ay to first call them and find out anything you can. If you are worried about the "black helicopters" just lie and say it is for someone else.

Yikes, thanks a bunch. But I don't think I want to pursue this real far though. For god sake, it's a permit, I've lived 16 years without it and I can deal with a few more months. I'm sure my parents will figure something out. On the side note, they called last night, they're in Toronto and they'll be back tomorrow around noon.

Sorry all, but I'm still not deported.

Today, I was trying to find my passport and such in my parents room, I found something...lets just say...'magazines for men'. But still a big 'not found' on my passport.
