Someone asked me to make a logo for them based around a name they gave me, so... here it is. Nothing over the top, fairly simple

comments, feedback etc. welcomed (-:

cheers

It's nice :) Looks a bit like Infinium Labs' logo. There can be some more work done to the shadows, they look a bit weird to me.

correct me if i'm wrong, but infinium labs don't own the infinity symbol... so i think you've allowed to use it (although you might not want to seeing as it would be pretty similar)

www.infinumlabs.com

i think thats the site. i would drop the drop shadows. also try blowing it up and try shrinking it, see what those look like. the glossyness might not blow up or shrink well.

m_andrews808 - link is here http://www.infiniumlabs.com/.

The infinity symbol has been around for hundreds of years - so you can use it freely - no copyright issues.

However, if you use it the same way as someone else has then you may be in trouble.

In my view yours is nothing like the infinium treatment - so, good work! :)

yeah it'd be extreemly strange for a company to have exculsive rights to a widely used and accepted mathmatical symbol!

And it doesn't look anything like their logo (IMO)! ho hum

the guy originally wanted a gold infinity loop with silver type, here's the first design if you're interested :P

which do you prefer?

cheers

*edit* thanks mdipi btw I'll play around with the shadows a bit

well I don't think its so similar that there'll be any copyright issues. Different colours, different type, different layout, same symbol, similar type layout (in that there's a large word with smaller lettering beneth, but thats not uncommon)

I like the black infinity text better, less busy. The infinity symbol should have a tapering, like this one for example:

Because right now the symbol looks more like glasses.

actually I just stumbled across an issue with one of my clients and trademarks/copyrights. You can actually use the exact logo as someone else as long as you are in differents areas of business as to not confuse the origin of a product or service. In this case if infium labs has this logo copywritten or trademaked then you had better look elsewhere. I know infiniti (the automobile has this logo trademarked but since you are not making cars your cool there). I would go to the trademarks and patents website to make sure www.uspto.gov if you are in the states if not then dont worry.

It is worth looking into since infium is in the web technologies....You could find yourself on the wrong end of a lawsuit
