~Hey Guys
I am still in the development stages of my website because i want it to visually stunning and it is quite hard as i am learning new hings about flash every day. I have recently been working on my splash intro page and have found that my website will be centered around my protfolio and a light and dark theme. Good and bad, emotion and emotionless.
Working with that i came up with this design but didnt know if it looked any good. So i came here to ask you guys.
NOTE THE LINES YOU CAN SEE OF THE BACKGROUND GRUNGE WILL BE FIXED I ONLY JUST NOTICED IT ON MY DAD'S COMP.

800x600 will make bigger soon :).
I also removed the amnious blob from the top left to see what it looks like without it to give both points of view.

I also was searching for various fonts that would fit the splash page with no look i was wondering what kind of font do you think would look good with these 2 splash pages?
I am also having friends logo's on it aswell so any entries for that will be added (like electron geek's lil logo').
Thank You For Your Time
ANY COMMENTS ARE WELCOME :D :thumb:

wow- impressive designs - I'd think I'd keep a small (maybe pixel?) font, so it doesn't 'intrude' your pics, and make the title of your page a bit bigger... but your design look nice, although they will probably take time to load for a splash page =)

I like it :thumb: Don't like the red one, that's too overpowering. Just keep the blue :)

I am amazed on how much you like this design guys :).
I am going to remove the error add a small nice pixel font and some friend icons if you guys will make some for yourselves!!!!!
I'll scrap the red one in the top left aswell. I was wondering do you think a wireframe effect like pixel rangers would be classed as a serious rip not sure yet though i'll show you guys and update later!.

I didnt mean to. I used it as a test and just kept it because it looked so good i'll just replace it with another grunge wall that i find somewhere.
I honestly totally forgot it was on. I'll just have to find a new grunge wall to use.
SORRY FOR THE TROUBLE SINTAX i really forgot about it hope your not P***** of at me :-\ .

Here's a texture I just threw together that's close to what you "mistakingly tried to rip" (......)
(On my soapbox now)
Textures are easy, once you know how....You should learn... ;)
You would have more to proud of when the "whole" creation is your own.
Besides, it could get ugly if the site or image became popular built from "other peoples" copyrighted material......Be careful..!!!
ALWAYS ask permission BEFORE you use it....
(Step down off the soapbox)
If you like the texture I made, use it.....I don't usually save them anyway.
Have fun!

add some pixel font in there, and dont use a PNG, it takes 10 seconds to load on my cable connection. A splash image should only be around 50kb or less, since its just something saying your site is coming soon.

Did you make the 3d aspect yourself?

Yes i did.
Pretty simple to do making it look good with burn and dodge is the hard bit :/.
I am still searching for fonts and i have changed the grunge effect now.
Still in the design stage though and i will try it as a jpeg.

i kind of like the obvious red blob on the top left, perhaps if you faded that layer down to like 20-25 percent, kind of make it look like it is suspended in the distance/faded...
i can see now I'm going to have to make a photoshop paper tutorial...

Thanks for the advice prstudio i'll show you an update later!.
Btw why does my dad's screen make such a difference to how my pics look. MY screen upstairs is a flatron 16" his is a TFT flatron 18" and theres loads difference i've tried adjusting colour settings with no apparant difference.

Seems to be a lot of conflict going on in this splash page. You have a realy deep red and a light blue then an orange. Also you have these very tech style abstract blobs on top of a grungey background. I think if you are going to put the blobs and the grunge together you should blen them a lot more then jsut putting one on top of the other. Also myabe work on getting some kind of a color theme going instead of having so much contrast.

Are the .abr files installed in the Brushes folder...????
Something like..........
C (or drive where you installed PhotoShop>Program Files>Adobe>PhotoShop7>Presets>Brushes....;)

VisualAid,
First thing that popped out at me was the color scheme, especially the splash1.png mock up. The red, blue and orange seem to clash, and don't work well in that layout. Another thing that really doesn't fit is the mix of abstract trendy objects and the grunge {middle} section. I encourage you to keep trying and experimenting. If you do your homework you should be able to knock out a nice splash.
Good Luck
