Hi,

I recently bought a new CDRW drive off ebay cause my old one was really slow, I have installed it successfully (kind of) but can't get it working correctly.

My old set up had my burner as Drive D, and my DVD player as E and I could use either to install stuff.

Anyway, I took out my old burner, followed the instructions and now have the new burner in place. No drivers came with it, I got the impression it doesn't need any or that they install automatically.

Both drives have power coming to them & open.

The problem is that the computer does not seem to recognise either drive now, in "My Computer" it doesn't show either a D or E drive so I can't seem to use my new burner or even install Nero that came with it!
I have basically no hard drive space at all, so I need to get it working as soon as possible. I have emailed the company I bought it off, but figure one of you may be able to help me as you are a band of geeks! :P

thx

Check out your bios settings. If you enter the bios setup and search around for a bit (it depends on what BIOS you have, i have award) you should be able to find a list of all of your drives. There should be an autodetect option or if not, you can manually add another drive.

I know this might sound stupid - but have you set up the jumpers correctly? often new drives will be set to 'slave' as a factory default :)
