Needless to say, our company no longer gets our water from Arrowhead... We contacted the health department, and it turns out that this is quite a common occurance. Since the bottles are recycled, sometimes debris does not get washed out, and then gets missed on the quality control conveyor belt, only to be delivered to the customer.. Yumm!! :)

it really did look like a turd, or something organic atleast... it's kind of hard to tell, but whatever it was, it soaked up a lot of water, and managed to turn the entire jugs content a milky white color... we figured that it was an apple, or some pieces of meat that were not fully rinsed out of the jug before being refilled...

And while we are on the topic of bottled water, allow me to rant a bit: The other night i found myself looking at a Pepsi Vending machine that wanted to charge me a $1.25 for a twenty ounce beverage. I don't drink soda, so water was my only option, but i found myself suddenly disgusted at the idea that a bottle of water costs just as much as a bottle of soda of the same size... somethings wrong with that picture. I was also disturbed by the fact that even those who do not wish to support soda companies, do so anyway when they purchase certain brands of bottled water. Aquafina is a Pepsi Product. Dasani is a Coka-Cola Product. Now the stores even carry someting called 'Snap2o' which is snapple brand bottled water. Does anybody else find it disturbing that we have to pay for the right to drink clean purifed water? Tap water is free, but warm, and potential unpurified, and may contain minute traces of arsenic, flouride, and chlorine.. Where do these Soda companies get off thinking that they they should charge customers for something that ought to be free? End Rant...

people pay more for water than they do for gasoline...

I've always thought that was strange. If you had come up to me 30 years ago, and told me that there would be "water wars" , I would have laughed in your face...

Personally, I filter my own tap water, since it is essentially all the bottled water companies do anyway...

I bet you all also didn't know that every time you buy a bottle of Snapple (whatever the kind), you're giving money to help support a convicted cop killer in Philadelphia and not only get him off death row but out of jail completely...

I agree, it sucks that you support soda companies when buying certian bottled waters, but so is life. No one can fully understand exactly where our money goes once it leaves our hands.

Sure have... :)

I have the same problem at work, the soda machine charges 1.10 for a 20oz bottle. Including water. Although i guess it is nice that cafeteria has filtered water for free just take your cup/mug/bottle/whatever there and fill up. =)

Cheers!

What are you talking about???

Did you know that places that serve food are not allowed to charge for water? If they sell food, they are legally obligated to provide water, even to customers who do not purchase anything. They can charge for the cost of a cup, but if you have your own cup, they cannot charge you...

Rev: I hear you about the water/gasoline price comparison.. i was making that point to some friends today.. pretty insane..

No one can fully understand exactly where our money goes once it leaves our hands.

Not entirely true. You just gotta follow the money trail... for example, whenever you buy a Post, Kraft, Nabisco, or Planters product, you are supporting the worlds largest tobacco conglomerate, Altria (formerly known as Phillip Morris International). Their product list includes Post Raisin Bran, Nabisco Shredded Wheat, Kraft Cheese and Macaroni, Planters Peanuts, Kool-Aid Bursts, Capri Sun, Tang, Toblerone Candy, Dijourno Pizzas, A1 Steak sauce, Philladelphia Cream Cheese, Grey Poupon, Wheat Thins, Animal Crackers, Altoids, Oreos, Oscar Meyer Lunchables, Chrystal Light, Frito Lay, not to mention Miller High Life, Marlboro's and Virginia Slims. Altria's website even lists Taco Bell and Starbucks, as two of its aquired subsidiaries....

I think a better way of saying what you said would be, "Very few people are able to fully understand exactly where their money goes once it leaves thieir hands."

On a lighter note: Gigli is a box-office bomb!! Yay!! =)

The reason you get charged is because it's be cleansed and/or purified and bottled (the cost of major purification like that is quite immense afaik). So.. you should be able to get manky untreated water for free :) of course.. you have to have it supplied to your house (so you pay your water supplier ;))

Yeah i understand that they hafta charge for the purified bottled water, but my gripe stems from the fact that soda is purified water with sugary syrup, and CO2 added, yet its all the same price as purified water.. thats all im sayin... :)

Well Whippersnapper, it goes like this. There's a controvery over this convicted cop killer in Philadelphia. This all happened years ago. When he was arrested, he entered the plea of 'guilty,' then when he was sentenced to death he entered the appeals court saying that his confession was flase, and that he plead guilty because he didn't want his brother to get in trouble, who he says killed the cop. For over a decade now this man has been in and out of appeals court, with many people backing his fight for freedom.

One of those backers is Snapple, who contributes a portion of their profits to pay for the lawyers fees for this killer. Another backer is Rage Against the Machine, who gave (until they broke up) a portion of their profits from ticket and album sales to help "Free Mumia"

The cop killer's name - Mumia Abu-Jamal.
The fallen hero - Dainel Faulkner

I'd tell you to look that up online, but all you'll see are "Free Mumia" sites with phony information, and totally subjective materials touting HIM as the hero.

"oh.. so.. they should charge more for soda?"

fine by me, but id rather that they charge less for water....

unfortunately that would lead to more people drinking a healthy substance that is widely available, as opposed to sucking down an unhealthy beverage, and keeping their brand loyalty..

I think what Majeye is saying something equivalent to paying the same amount for a piece of wood as you would for a whole house... although that would be an exaggerated analogy.

So you think that Snapple and RATM support this guy because he killed a cop? Who's really got the phony information...

Perhaps they support Mumia because he was wrongfully accused and imprisoned...

Ok Majeye ...

It's hard to fully understand where our money goes once it leaves our hands.

What I'm really upset about, forget this water/soda thing ... why is it so much money for Orange Juice!! They want kids to eat healthy and all, but when I go for a drink from the vending machines, a Mountain Dew costs me 75 cents, and OJ is a rediculous $1.15!!

Now that is whack!

Maj, Tele ...

You can believe whoever you want, you can fight for whatever you want, you can side with whoever you want ... I'm from Philadelphia, born and raised ... if anybody, I'd have more knowledge on the subject that Snapple or Rage.

I might have to agree with you if not for the sole fact that he said he was covering up for his brother who killed him, saying his religion forced him to confess and not rat out his brother who he said killed Faulkner.

You won't read that online anywhere, I gaurantee

I couldn't agree more. They charge over 2 dollars for 20oz of orange or apple juice and its 1.10 for soda, that is not good for you at all.

I buy a case of .5 liter water bottles every week. I don't pay for purified tap water- if the bottle says "Spring water" on the label , it is legally required to come from a natural source. Look it up. If it says "drinking water" "mineral water" or whatever else, it can and usually is purified tap water from a municipal source, which tastes like crap.

I spent the first 12 years of my life living in the country, drinking sweet, clean well water. If you've never drank good well water, it almost tastes like there's sugar added to it. From when I was 12-16, I lived in Oregon, which had very clean, tasty tap water.

I pay for bottled water for the same reason I keep my AC at 72 degrees year round in Phoenix, AZ- I can't get to sleep if it's hot because it was always cold at night as a kid. I can't drink purified tap water because it tastes flat and gross to me, I was raised on really tasty water.

It's worth it to me...

Niann knows what's up!

I think they might be trying to capitalize on people wanting to be healthier and jack up the price on the good stuff like OJ and AJ.

I think that's the reason bottled water is so much money too. I mean, how many times do you see people walking around with a bottle of water in their hands? Why is it 50 cents for a candy bar, and over $1 at least for a granola bar, or 'health snack'?

It's just mean :(

Me too, but it ain't like that. :-\

BTW, water is not, was never, and never will be FREE. You either pay your local water and sewer bill or you pay to have a well drilled, pumps installed and a cesspool or septic system to maintain.

Magick, just being FROM somewhere is not an infallible argument against ignorance...I just moved to NJ from Philly....Check your facts....
He didn't plead guilty....I'm not saying he's innocent either, BUT how much do you know of what the cops said happened that night...???
There's doubt there, and that my friend should be enough to keep ANYONE off death row.:scream:

One more rant...??? Why is tobacco taxed so much for being such a strain on health care and yet junk food and drinks are cheaper than healthy foods causing things like diabetes, obesity and heart disease. (How about scales in the supermarkets, if you are x amount of pounds overweight you get charged y amount of tax).
Not to mention the fact that the tax they collect from tobacco SHOULD be enough to provide health care to EVERYONE who is not insured
