AS2 Board Game Tutorials

Hi,

I am looking for some tutorials for AS2 board games. I would like to be able to make checkers or chess really. I have a fair bit of knowledge of AS2 but have only ever made games such as pong or breakout in the past and really stuck as to where to start on a board game engine, reading in from xml etc...

I really appreciate any help or advice anyone can offer me.
