Hi guys, i need help regarding this problem.
I am using flash (CS3) to draw illustrations. i am good at drawing with flash especially for website.
The problem: my client need the vectors editable in ai.
I export my vector to ai (illustrator 11). as result the ai file consists of sooo many layers (1 path convert into 1 layer).
Drawing of a hand in 1 layer of flash turns into 10 layers in ai. And i have one complicated illustration. it is a pain to edit such file in ai.
Unfortunately, i cant merge that layers in ai (the option of "merge selected" turns to grey).
Any workaround to solve this problem instead of i have to start using illustrator?
thanks in advance.

From what I've read here and there, Adobe spend a lot of time cleanly getting Illustrator and Photoshop elements INTO flash, but not so much time going the other way. Since I do most of my drawing in AI or PS, this works for me. I think the more this is complained about, the more likely that Adobe will put some guys on it in CS5.
I also wish Flash filters (like drop shadow) would line up better with Photoshop's effects layers and Illustrator's appearance worlds. Sometimes I get a groovey glowball effect in Flash that I can't move back to AI...

seems there's no vector compatibility. yay
it is pity that flash can do better [in particular aspects of vector drawing] than ai which is the standard software for vector drawing.
thanks for the reply

i do not use illustrator too much, but did you try to copy every layer separately?
copy layer one and paste it in illustrator and so on.

it didnt work like i want it to. illustrator doesnt have "paste in place" option. i dont want to rearrange all shapes and strokes over n over.
i solved the problem with "pathfinder" option in illustrator. i grouped same color shapes and pick "add to shape area" in "shape mode". it works perfectly. i merged dozens layers and got 5-6 layers only.

Hello, here's solution:
Select vector object(picture) and go to File>Export>Image
Save it as .FXG to some folder.
Open Adobe Illustrator, start new blank document, and drag that .FXG file that you've
just exported into that blank document.
Enjoy dudes..
Greets,
Aleksandar.
