I really dislike it when people new to the forums post their ActionScript problems in the CS3 and CS4 boards instead of the AS3 or AS2 and AS1 board. Is there a way that you could reroute all the threads tagged with AS3 or AS2/AS1 to the proper board? That would probably reduce the amount of time the person would have to wait for a reply. Just wondering...

The problem is that there is some things in AS that are specific to a certain version of the Flash Player.

I guess that's true, but the AS experts still reside on the AS boards, not on the Flash boards. I would think that the CS3 and CS4 boards are for the animation and timeline portions of Flash, and the AS boards are for the AS parts. At least, that's my impression of the boards. I'm sure some of the AS questions posted on the CS boards are version-specific, but the vast majority are just standard AS questions.

I thought that at first but there are almost no questions about the IDE itself. I think thread prefixes should be forced so that the person must include the AS version and the Flash Player version.

Oh? I've seen plenty of our smart AS people post in the various Flash forums; it's not rare, either.

I don't know how everyone else does it, but I usually just use the New Posts auto-query and scan the thread titles. It doesn't really matter to me which forum the thread is in as long as it looks interesting.

I just look through each forum and skim over the bolded threads. Not that I'm an AS expert or anything.

Huh, I hadn't thought of using the "New Posts" button. Still, it seems silly keep AS threads spread across three forums, even if it's not difficult to find the good questions. If most of the questions in the CS boards are AS-related, why should we have the AS boards? We could merge them into one big non-flash AS board, that way all the Flex/Air questions could go in one board.

I guess it doesn't really matter where the questions are, but better organization would certainly make me feel better! :block:

I think forced prefixes would actually be awesome.
