Platform game programming

Ok, firstly i know that there is a tutorial for this....on this site even, but I am having major trouble getting any of it right. Even C+Ping the code over doesn't seem to work. I'm not very good at all with action script and it's totally baffling me as to why nothing seems to work. If anyone can offer any help on making a basic platform game level i'd be really grateful. Also if you'd like me to post what i have so far just let me know.

It would help to know which tutorial you're following, or at least whether you're using AS2 or AS3.

I'll also post the .FLA file i have currently if someone can tell me how.
