A friend of mine told me to make a logo out of the letter 'I', this took me about 30 minutes. I don't really think it's that good, at all. Though i can't really put my finger on why.
Anybody care to tell me why it sucks? Thanks in advance.

That’s not a logo. Given that the brand (merely the letter ‘i’, not what it might represent) has no meaning at all, the logo is similarly pointless.
That’s just an ‘i’ with silly Photoshop effects.

I wouldn't say they are silly PS effects. I think it would be better without the diagonal strike pattern. But then, as Jeff stated, it's just the letter "i" and nothing else.
Try to implement the business' role into the design and typeface structure. What I get from the "logo" right now: A company that may have the letter "i" in it's name.
Good luck, I'll wait for an update to make any further critique.

I'm not a graphic designer (INAGD) but I know at least that if your logo isn't effective (looks like crap) when you remove all the photoshop effects, then adding all the photoshop effects in the world isn't going to give you a good logo.
Forget about the photoshop effects. Try to make a logo in black-and-white then add color and effects and whatnot. Also, the letter I is incredibly over used already.

I fully agree. That's why I recommend drawing it on paper, or restricting your design to black and white vectors as Gundark said.

Thanks for the explanation, it was a one time thing, and like you guys said it isn't much, if anything. Though i will be saving your replies and looking at them when i do make a logo for real. Thanks again for helping me grow as a designer. :)
