If there is the demand, i'ld be whiling to learn and write a tutorial on haxe (http://haxe.org/doc/intro) to get a forum started.

provided that viktor doesnt beat me too it... *wink wink*

I think it would be great to write server side apps (neko) or c++ apps with a syntax thats similar to as3. (great for cross platform policy file server/game server)

you can see viktor's policy file server on the 4th post.

if you really want, you can write a gui with ScreenWeaver HX and AsWing libaries (http://screenweaver.org/doku.php?id=tutorials).

Do you mean get a forum started here on HaXe?

Yes, but i dont see much demand for it at the kirupa boards, i searched for haxe and only got about 6 results.

So i thought it would be interesting to know how many people would want it.

Edit:
sorry, if it seems like im trying to moderate your forum... which im not trying to.

Oh no problem at all - I was just curious since HaXe isn't (as you mention) something that people talk about a lot here :P

As you saw from the various Flex forum threads, I am really trying to keep the site focused to only Flash/ActionScript and Silverlight/WPF/C#. Both of those are huge areas with a lot of content that has yet to be written, so I would prefer any new content be based around those two areas than something entirely new.

Well haxe can compile flash, php, js, neko & c++. At least we have forums for 3/5 of them...

However i can see haxe compiling into other things like java sometime in the future, which could be troublesome for the forum. If they get it compiling silverlight, that could get interesting with cross platform flash/silverlight apps.

I'ld happy to write some as3 tutorials, if you have a topic that needs to be covered.

I'm unemployed and looking to become well known as a actionscripter, so i may as well. :P just keep in mind that i'm not the bestest at oops, but i'm getting there...

so just pm me a request. :D

Just look at the tutorial request thread that is stickied in this forum if you're looking for tutorials to write.

And forums are often based around tutorial content on the main site ;)

Can we get a sticky that says the rules for a new forum section?

No, I enjoy repeating the same information over and over again using slightly different words placed in a different order each time :mr_potato:

It's true. We need a sticky that indicates this.

I don't think so, he likes saying the same thing again and again only using somewhat dissimilar language arranged differently in each new post.

And wow, Kirupa's "random" choice of smileys is too accurate sometimes. I mean, the whole point of Mr. Potato Head is to use the same parts over and over again using slightly different arrangements of the parts, and he just happens to choose that smiley? Suspicious.

My smiley choice is random, unless subconsciously I am doing something intelligent....which would be awesome!

^ No smiley used. I think he's trying to tell us something...

Whats with the all observations on kirupa's forum habbits?
Is there some kind of kirupa groupie club i should be aware of? :P

Anyway, i made this thread knowingly that a haXe forum wasn't going to be made, i made it out of curiosity. :P

although haXe does seem to be gaining a lot of momentum, I wonder if it's going to crash and burn or takeoff and become a standard langauge?

Edit:

It's just a bunch of random posts! :'(

(Can i suggest a forum dedicated to tutorial requests and another for writing them? :D)

Well, I decided on writing a tut on as3 vector geometry.
It's based on tonypa's awesome one.

Is there somewhere that i can post it, so i can get feedback and modify it?
and maybe get some assistance in writing it, its already 3000 words long (11 pages in word).

I got alot more to write, and examples/pictures/diagrams to make.
