hey i am stuck ! :alien:

i want to make this effect. here (http://www.teamphotoshop.com/)

underwater effect on a photo.

is a photo that looks like the girl is underwater. so i started and got stuck on 2 step :blush: i started making my water effect with the pen tool, but instead looking like the picture in the example the pen tool cut the selection and colored black,. so i don't know if thats normal or if theres another way to do this hope you understand what i am saying. if not would like it if someone could explain alittle more detailed.

hmm not sure what you mean by 'cut the selection'

you should just get the pen tool (if you don't know how to use this do a search! there are plenty of tutorials and threads about it) and draw a path like they show. You shouldn't have any problems if you do that....

and as for another way to do that... theoretically you could just get a normal selection tool and draw the wiggly line, but later on you reuse the selection, so it really is more practical to do it this way (and it's a good skill to know)

It goes black because you've got it set to make a shape, change it to make a selection instead, it's near the top somewhere.

soul is right i attached a screen capture of the one you want. it is in th upper left hand corner

exactly !!! Thats what i was missing I din't change that option.
