Revhttp://www.aulman.com/rev.gif rev, i was never a fan of the saying, "Kick em while they're down"

This is exactly what these kids did. It is morally wrong.

I think the best punishment would be to let the homeless guy stay in their kids' homes for a week, and let the kids stay in the homeless guy's home (or lack of one). That will teach the parents to pay more attention to what their kids are doing, and that will also teach the kids that it's not fun when a homeless guy driving their parents' cars shoots them with a stun gun :)

reverendflash
August 10th, 2003, 02:02 PM
shoot, just let the homeless guy stay 1 week in the family truckster... you'll never get that smell out, so they will remember what they did as long as they own that car...

What are you trying to say?

reverendflash
August 10th, 2003, 07:23 PM
the fact is, they are homeless.

blaming someone as to why they are homeless does very little good at all for either the homeless person, or the person pointing the finger.

don't worry rev, I've met plenty.
my thought is that, even if you value a life as equal to any other life, never mind the past, there are other things to consider, like the future. what potential damage is there to others from the individual that lives on.

it still doesn't justify taking a life.

if we are to judge on damage one does to another as to whether someone lives or dies, then I suggest we start at birth.

I said all life is sacred, not equal.

If I thought all life was equal, it would tear me up just to see my lifestyle in comparison to others... I think that is an unrealistic view.

But no one deserves to die, in my opinion, and I couldn't choose for anyone to die.

I did a lot of soul-searching on this. I used to own several assault rifles (none mod'd), carry a 357 m in a shoulder holster at all times outside my door, and other "toys." I made my decision based on my views of the world.

[Legoman]

okay, I'm not gonna push this any further, I just find it so frustrating when people refuse to enter into the simple rules of a hypothetical situation, but instead choose to espouse a supposedly "admirable" stance by just saying "I couldn't choose", and try to hold the moral high-ground. no one ever said "I think this person deserves to die". I'm outta this thread.

reverendflash
August 10th, 2003, 11:19 PM
but if I couldn't choose, then by playing your little scenario out, I would have to choose. I choose to not engage in your hypothetical situation because the rules as setup are fallable. The rules you chose assume I am able to make a choice, so therefore they are moot.

How about this: I will not choose!

you don't have to like it, you just have to understand I believe it.

relax, this isn't going to change the color of the sky tomorrow.

The comparisons of
'should we consider the lives of junkies dieing in the stall or the homeless who've *possibly* contributed to their own condition' as worthy of respect as human beings
-to-
the hypothetical 'What would you do if a loved one was in terrible danger - could you take life of the predator ?'

....is ludicrous.... there is no relation between the two :sure:

for the first one, no one except the individual to whom this is happening really knows all there is to know about how it got that far. Care must be taken when judging as one day when you least expect it ... there you are .... and an ounce of compassion may be all it takes to start to undo the whole mess.

Those kids were heartless little Pr!cks with a cavalier disregard for other people that is quite disturbing ... let me have 'em for a week
