I just got this game and started playing it last night and I have to say I'm very impressed with it, the graphics are fabulous, the story although not that original its still interesting (think event horizon) and the gore is off the charts
What really blew me away was the games interface and menu system its all in real time in game no pause screen so u switch weapons on a holographic image that pops up from your suit and change weapons use items and see the map all in real time while having monsters running and attacking you which enhances the sense of realism of the game.
I'm on chapter 2 so far but I am very pleased with what I've seen so far, if you like survival horror games or action/adventure sci-fi games you will love this game.
I consider this game to be a candidate for game of the year its that good.

Wow, I didn't realize it was already out.
I'm not sure if I'm going to agree with the No Pause thing. I can understand having it all real-time for switching weapons, looking at the map, and using items, but no pause screen is kind of ridiculous IMO.
Either way, I'm still going to go pick it up.

No no no no you misunderstood me what I meant is to change weapons and access items or the map its all real time and never stops the action but if you press the start button the game will pause

I kind of want to play this game after hearing this. Too bad it gets released tomorrow and 2 days after that Farcry 2... just bad timing for my gaming budget/time.

At least try to rent it because IMHO this game is much better than Bioshock and the interface is so great and innovative, like I said GOTY candidate for me and a sleeper hit.
Play on on PS3 or X360 but play it.

Man o man, my friend bought this for his PS3 tuesday night and last night I started playing it. I have to say grim is right, this game is phenomenal. The graphics are superb and the gameplay is pretty sweet. I absolutely love how there is nothing on the screen (HUD or anything) except your player. For some reason it gives it more of a 'I'm here' feeling. I'm on Chapter 2 and I've had the game startle me quite a few times. Fun stuff.
Few things about it, I love how when you enter space the sounds completely change. One thing that I think would be better is if the camera was a little bit more closer to his head, like it was sitting on his shoulder (think Resident Evil 4 when your aiming at something), because sometimes he can get in the way (or to me it seems). Plus I think it would give it a more POV feel.
One of my complaints is that the game seems to have a 'go to point A and press this button/get this item, take it to point B and then goto C... ok now that we are here.. go get this (so on so on)'. Kind of repetitive but still fun nonetheless.
I fully recommend this to everyone!

Yeah the objectives in each mission are pretty much the same and a bit repetitive but the game is so enjoyable and amazing its forgivable, I mean what else would you expect your stranded on a ship that has no power or communications, the story is quite interesting as well.
I'm on chapter 7 and had to stop playing because I got Gears 2  and I just had to play it till the end, with that done now I can get back to dead space duties also the boss fights are pretty neat too and the zero gravity sections are amazing fun stuff.
