i really like this site: http://www.towndrow.ca/ its simple and has a nice style to it.
it got me thinking, when you click on an image it scrolls up from the bottom and it seems like just for a split second the quality is worse and then it increases. is this a function in flash? can you choose to display the bitmap at a lower quality while moving it then have it switch to a better one on demand?

To me it seems it sets quality to low when scrolling. That would give the same effect.

Looks to me like bitmap smoothing is disabled on mouse down and enabled on mouse up.

you mean the stage quality?

exactly. The vector graphics are getting choppy too when you're trying to scroll, this is what it looks like when you set the stage quality to low.
